  1. Never would have thought of trying this. Id have waited till i got home and used mr stanley.
  2. Last chance before I stick it on an auction site. Its a great cabinet and from what I can see a fair price for it.
  3. Gun Cabinet for sale. This will fit maybe 4 or 5 guns. It has 3 locks - 2 built in locks at the bottom and 1 padlock at the top. Police approved. Its got re-enforced boxing where you would bolt this to your wall which is unusual for a cabinet and gives it extra strength. Its 52 1/4 inches high, 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep inside. 7" deep incl. the door. Its had rifles in it before, but its not that deep, so its better for shotguns. The cool thing about this is that the whole front door actually lifts off. So you undo the locks and can lift the door off. Ideal if you are limited
  4. Nice! Im getting hungry just looking at that picture. I havent had pigeon for ages!!!!!
  5. Be interested to see what the outcome of this one is.
  6. Very good advice there. Its really all about practice. At my local clay ground they just leave me to it, so me & my mate tend to concentrate on those birds which we are rubbish at, rather than just do the normal 25 targets. Its strange. Some days I can hit the first 12 perfect and mess up the last 13. Other times its the other way around. My biggest mistakes were: Bird 1 - moving the gun up to shoot it and just shooting straight over it. Always get on the target, move with the target, get in front of target then shoot. Stop moving the gun when I pulled the trigger rather than keep
  7. Also remember if you have a scope on the 17hmr then you may want to get a deeper gunsafe to allow the extra room. Some shotgun safes are not very deep, so you`d have to put the rifle in sideways, reducing the capacity of the safe.
  8. Cant you fit it inside an internal cupboard in the house or something? Then fit a deadlock to the cupboard to stop prying eyes. Doesnt matter if the kids know where it is or not, as they wont have keys to the cabinet. I knew from the age of 5 where my dad kept his gun cabinet and I never went anywhere near it. Personally I wouldnt want mine in my garage, ive enough tools in there that it would be like an aladins cave for any theives. Im sure they could probably cut their way into it within minutes.
  9. Really think you will be struggling to get FAC permission to shoot foxes in a back garden that size. It may be easier to get a SGC and use a shotgun, but even so, I think you`d be asking for trouble using anything like that in a back garden, esp if you have neighbours.
  10. Id speak to your local firearms place. They must have loads of people with the same problem. Mate of mine has a similar new build house and he put his up in the loft out of the way bolted to the roof joists. Id use coach bolts and bolt it to the floorboards and to joists in the loft somewhere. Theres always some solid beams you can find.
  11. I will have to upload a pic of mine. I got a spotlight off an old mini cooper, bolted it to a bit of U shaped metal. Then slotted a motorbike battery into the metal. Wired up via a headlamp switch of some old car and hey presto, spotlight on / off. Being a motorbike battery it lasts forever and MY GOD is it bright. First time out in the field it lit the entire field up like the police chopper does when its floodlight comes on. Only downer is that its a little heavy compared to some other lamps, but not really a problem if theres 2 of you - or if you just hold up somewhere and flick the lam
  12. Yep, where he may be confused is gunshops are not allowed to sell air rifles mail order any more. But, private individuals like ourselves can happily send non fac air guns through the post. Ive done it before via Royal Mail / Parcel Force without any problems at all.
  13. As above, try cocking it first. I never had a problem with mine and use a stirrup pump, but some people have had problems. Once you get air into it, keep and eye on it, as if the air pressure starts to drop over a week or so then you know its the seals or another problem. If it does turn out you need seals, they are cheap as chips and easy to fit. I gave mine a full service last year and it was very straight forward. Mines a 2007 model, so it was about time to change the seals and give it the once over.
  14. +1 for BASC from me. Been a member for years. Enjoy their website and magazine and always enter their competitions - although yet to win! I think you get a lot for your money with them too.
  15. Never heard that before either. Maybe it depends on where you live. Price wise, the lanbers when I last checked seemed to drop in price a lot initially, then hold their value. I paid around 700quid for mine when I bought it a few years back which was full price. But I am sure ive seen them for around the 400quid mark 2nd hand. Check on guntrader and the other usual for sale places and see what prices they are fetching.
  16. Mince / dead rabbit / eggs (one broken) will all usually get a magpie in. Also the old shaking a half full matchbox trick works. Once you have killed one magpie, just leave it lying there and within minutes there will be loads of other ones come in to see whats going on, making a hell of a racket in the process.
  17. Had one run between my legs before. I was on one of my permissions having opted to take the air rifle rather than the husbpower .410. Im just walking along a hedgerow and this rabbit comes legging it out of the bushes, straight between my legs and off down the field at about 100mph. If id had the shotgun, i could have blasted it, but no chance with the air rifle. I soon realised why Mr Bunny was practicing his 0-100 times, as a cat soon popped out of the hedge from where the rabbit had came from. Ive seen this cat before stalking around my permission - sometimes its a race between if I
  18. Are they like these? http://www.airgunpellets.com/ Ive read very mixed reviews on these sort of things.
  19. Christ, they are some big rabbits. Nice going!!!
  20. In my own extensive back to back tests I do notice a difference in how I feel after drinking certain drinks. I find Whiskey makes me feel very angry the following day and I notice I get wound up easier and am less patient. Gin makes me feel depressed and emotional. Ouzo gives me mad hangovers, likewise so does cider. If I stick to vodka, then 9/10 I will feel fine the next day. Sometimes I can feel a bit "thick" the next day, where whilst I do not have a headache or feel sick, my brain seems to be running at only 1/10 speed. This is assuming all other factors remain the same. If you ar
  21. Excellent shooting! Ive not used my lanber in the field, tend to just use it for clays, but its a crackin gun. Very good value for money.
  22. Ive the .410 and with the subsonic loads out in the middle of a field it is very quiet. Anyone some distance away would not be hearing a thing. In hindside I do wish sometimes id have gone for the 12g version as at the time they used to give away both the hushpower barrell and a normal barrel with them - so you get 2 guns in 1. I think they dont do this any more. It would also give me the flexibility of using just normal 12g cartridges if i wanted. The .410 version is a cracking little gun though , although the mossberg hushpowers in general are very long guns!
  23. In all fairness ive seen very little difference between cartridges personally. I always buy in bulk, usually 1000 at a time and I tend to go for what ever my local shop has on offer. My local clay ground always just stocks Eley, and they are good. Im sure the last lot of cartridges i bought were called "sportsters" or something like that, green box with a pic of some guy shooting clays on them. Green cartridges. They were very cheap but work a treat for me, i must have got through about 800 of them already.
