  1. Lovely guns. My dads got a really ancient one of these and he still manages to hit pigeons with it.
  2. Very true and very sad. But I know I wouldn't hesitate to jump in to try and save my dog. Guess it's an in build reaction.
  3. Yep was pleased to read that verdict about time.
  4. Mobile Phone most of the time like now for example, I'm typing this on my phone. I used to use a desktop but now at home use a 200quid net book. Very fast very light and portable. 250gb hard drive has plenty of room for movies battery lasts 12 hours which is nearly a weeks use. Can't beat it.
  5. Another vote for s410 from me. Easy to maintain, and I've serviced mine every 3 years cheaply. Mega accurate and loads of shots per fill. I've had no end of rabbits with it. You can pick them up for around 350 to 400 depending on what kit its with.
  6. Personally I'd dump them and buy some new ones.
  7. Very good points here. When im out getting rabbits, with the s410 and silencer, you can shoot one rabbit and the one sitting next to him doesnt even bat an eyelid that his mate has just kealed over. So you end up getting several rabbits quickly. If you used a shotgun, yep, the rabbits will vanish. They are very quick learners. Even with the air rifle, after the first couple of times you have bit the permission and their mates havent come back home they will get very nervous and as soon as you enter the field they will leg it.
  8. On my s410 pcp a silencer makes a big difference, but on my springer it seems to make no difference at all, as the main noise seems to come more from the hammer hitting than the pellet leaving.
  9. Good price. I sold one similar last year for £100.
  10. They had some messed up "tests" back in the old days to see if someone was a witch. For example, drowning someone or burning them alive... if they survived they were a witch and killed... if they died then they werent a witch..
  11. Congratulations! Its definitely the year of babies. I know at least 15 people who have had kids this year already. Mad!
  12. Thats a good point really. If you hear someone breaking in downstairs you would reach for the first thing at hand. A lump of wood, a bat, a fire poker or something. If you instead went and got your gun cabinet keys, opened it up, got a gun out, loaded it up then thats a lot of thinking there gone into that. Its not an instinctive reaction. Had you just been walking in the back door from a night out lamping with gun in hand, then reaching into your pocket and loading a couple of cartridges and shooting at a burgler would be pretty instinctive. You may even just fire at the wall or floor as
  13. Tough one really. If someone breaks into your house what do you do? You only have a few seconds to decide. Do you try and scare them off by firing a shot? Do you shoot at them? Or do you hide in your bedroom waiting for them to come in, tie you up and torture you to get the keys to your gun cabinet? Then once they have your guns, will they shoot you? Or end up going off and shooting someone else with your guns? Imagine that? Knowing that your guns could be used by some scum to go off and shoot innocent people etc...? And if you do use your gun either to scare the burgler off or to shoot at him
  14. Then you should learn mate, better safe than sorry, it doesn't have to be a massive wooden break stick, here's a key ring that will do the job. http://www.elitekubo...ll-tapered.html Arnt they illegal? I seem to recall Jason Donovan (of all people) got done a while back for carrying one of these about. I remember some dog attacking one of mine once and I just jumped straight in, grabbed the other dog by the scruff of the neck and went to pull it off without thinking. Of course, my dog then decided at that point to give the other dog a good bite and ended up biting my hand rat
  15. Some funny stuff here. Have to say I was tempted to get my poachers .410 out and nip down to essex myself, but after seeing those photos... Ive a house cat myself and its huge. I reckon if i stuck it in a field then got some knackered old grainy camera and took a pic it would look just like that. Might have to try it later!
  16. The thing with the s410 is that you need to see it as an investment. They hold their value exceptionally well. I bought my s410 .22 about 3 years ago and looking at the for sale prices today, its still worth what I paid for it back then. Not many things you can say that about. If you shop about you very often see them for 350->400quid. The s200 with multishot is good, but the multishot isnt as easy to use as the s410.
  17. That would bring tears to his eyes.......
  18. When I bought my hushpower mossberg pumpaction .410 i looked into whether there was anyway I could get a semi version as I love my 12bore beretta 391 semi. I couldnt see any hushpower semi`s anywhere and dont think they actually did any. I think it was something to do with the gas recoil needed to work the semi would be affected by the moderator. Or something like that. As for normal .410 semi`s, im pretty sure beretta did the 391 in .410, so im sure there are some out there.
  19. £500 may just about get you a beretta al391 like ive got. They hold their value incredibly well as they are excellent all round guns. For pigeons its one of the favoured weapons of choice. I use mine for clays and have had no problems, but you do get some people who are a bit funny about them. I think its more a case of trusting you rather than it being a semi. As for shooting..well its the same as anything, you get used to something and a change may affect how you shoot a little. Personally I love the semi. I can shoot one of my o/u`s for a few weeks and then going back to the semi its li
  20. They are pretty rare though, so its not easy to find a price to compare it against.
  21. Tough one really. Depends on what your dads attitude is to guns and you owning one in general. Some parents are quite strict. I know mine would not let me get a motorbike for about 8 years, until one day when i was in my 20`s I basically told them I was going to get one and that was that. My problem was that I lived at home and my parents would not let me have a motorbike on their property so I had to respect that. With guns on the other hand, my Dad had a license and a few guns, so it was not even a problem - although I was older than you.
  22. Sorry to hear that, sounds like your got bad luck. The ones ive met have been sound as a pound and really friendly.
