  1. I know what you mean, mate. I went out today with my two young lads to the estate. The sun was mostly out, the tree's all turning green, beautiful... We got nothing but it didn't matter. We had a lovely morning out and that's all that counts. Cheers.
  2. Bloody hell, Deker!! I shot 7 in one day last year and thought I was doing well........ Cheers
  3. Sorted!!! Stripped it again today, cleaned and lubed it all again then noticed that the front adjuster screw was wound quite far out. This changes the feel of the first stage, so I thought I'd try screwing it in a couple of turns and now it works perfectly. I still can't see how this would make such a change 'cos as I said before, I've only changed the spring and it worked fine before. Funny things, airguns........ Many thanks to Wrowmon for your help and advice. The spring guide's not turned up yet but, hey ho, at least it's sorted now. Cheers.
  4. If all else fails, you can replace the ram with a steel spring. Good luck, mate. Cheers.
  5. Yup, Stealthy's got a good point there. The Walther's IR. It really is the best scope I've come accross for the money. Good old Ramsbottoms!
  6. Have a look at the Walther 4-12x50 30mm too. Chuffed to bits with mine.
  7. There's a guy on here, Donnyc, that sells the rams that Theoben use and the 90 uses a ram of the same make (AWT). Try a search for him and drop him a PM. If he can get one, it'll be a hell of a lot cheaper.. Cheers.
  8. Don't worry about the barrel length on the 97, it'really not an issue. An old BSA break barrel that looks like a Lightning was probably an old Meteor. The quality of modern gear's in a totally different league, so no need to worry about the barrel going slack in the jaws. Try to have a go with as many types as you can, there's not really any bad guns about these days so long as you stay with the main quality makes. A gun that feels 'right' to you will always shoot better in your hands than one that doesn't.... We're all not the same size and shape, after all. Good luck, mate. C
  9. There's no 'better' between the two, mate, they're just not the same. I owned an for a long time years back and they're a cracking gun, if a little heavy. I've uesed the 97 too and again, really can't fault it for a springer. The 'barrel droop' that's been mentioned was a manufacturing issue that affected some HW break-barrels and is down to the alignment of the barrel in relation to the cylinder (where the scope mounts) and could cause the shots to land lower than the scopes adjustment could cope with. Not really an accuracy issue, more of just a pain in the arse if your gun had this
  10. I agree with Phantom on this one. They do develop a resistance over time and while the poor little buggers do suffer badly and many of them die from it, some do recover and pass on the resistance to the next generations. Rabbits wander from warren to warren and if the infection's there it'll soon get passed around. It lives in the fleas and they'll still be a fair few of those in the burrows after the rabbit's dead... If ever I've seen mixy on a shoot, I've always let it run it's course. The bloody thing's man-made anyway over in Auz to try to kill them over there 'cos they're not
  11. Hi, mate. Has the stock been removed? 'Cos if it has, the safety needs to be reset as the action's being put back in or it'll feck up the mechanism. I made the same mistake on my own 90. Ooops!! As has been said though, if you've still got normal resistance when you cock the thing, it's not the ram that's at fault. They can be stripped and rebulit so don't worry too much about paying Hull Cartridge Co. sh1t loads for a new ram. The biggest ball-ache is getting it re-filled. Cheers. Edit.... The link that Night Hunter's put on is bang on. An easy DIY job... And show's th
  12. Glad you had a good time, fellas, just sad I couldn't make it down Be good to catch up at some point though.... Take care and be well. Cheers.
  13. Hi, mate. Anything with a gas-ram in it. The AA Prosport's very quiet for a springer too. Cheers.
  14. How long's a piece of string? Is it a Mk1 or a Mk7? Is it in good nick or has it been kicking around in the back of a Landy for the last 30 years? What scope's it got? Need a bit more info, mate... Cheers.
  15. Archie!!! PMSL!!!! Priceless Aaron knowing how my own 410 reacts each time it gets wet, I'd agree with the white spirit option for tree sap. I'm assumeing it's sap......... Good luck. Cheers.
  16. £150???? FFS, bad luck, mate. I'd used springers for a long time and only got into PCPs last year. I tried the 100 but for me, it just didn't feel right. Lovely gun and all that but it just didn't fit me. I ended up with an AA410c and I really can't fault it so far. Lovely gun and so easy to use. Well pleased!! Try to get a go with as many guns as you can 'cos what feels 'right' for you should shoot right for you. Cheers.
  17. Hmmmm. Thinking about this mag thing... A lot of you lads (and lasses) shoot mainly with PCPs so a lot of you will shoot from a bi-pod or whatever, so you can get away with a higher mag 'cos you're not so bothered by the exagerated wobble that comes in when the mag goes up. Maybe I'm old school but I've shot with springers for many years and you can't really do that with them unless you're shooting off a rest the whole time 'cos your POI will change when you change position. Resting, standing, whatever... I'm fairly new to PCPs. I guess I got used to 6x as it seemed ideal. We only
  18. Hi, mate. Mods don't tend to break. Is the gun still shooting OK? Sounds like you may have a seal problem but I'm not going to say I know too much about PCPs... I've a 410 myself but I've only had it since last summer. Been shooting springers for the last 30 years!! Someone'll come along who knows more than me.... Good luck, mate. Cheers.
  19. Hi, mate. The 56 was only really ment to be an 'entry level' rifle, so even after a good service etc., you'll not get too much more. It'll not do anywhere near the 12 without shakeing itself to bits...... Maybe 8 or 9. As a basic gun to teach a lad the basics of shooting, it's perfectly OK. Take it for what it is and move on later. Cheers.
  20. I know a fair few people that wouldn't be able to work that out.......
  21. Hi, Jack. I keep all my scopes on 6x unless I'm shooting at very short range when I'll lower the mag. I've been looking out for a good 6x44 (ish) for ages as for me, it's an ideal airgun spec but the only ones available are made for CF rifles and so aren't much use to me. Cheers.
  22. The Dynamics are made from tin... Or is it zinc..... One or the other, Google it.
  23. Hi, mate. If you mean the steel core nylon skirt ones, I used them years back but not in PCPs. I never found a gun that liked them (.177 or .22). They are very light, just under 6 grains if I remember right, and so may not be too good in a PCP for that reason alone. They penatrate well at close range but slow down very quickly in flight due to their light weight. If you mean the newer Dynamics however then yes, I'd deffo give them a go. I use the TM1's in my Diana 52, Xocet and Tracker and they all love them. My 410c's a big fan of the PCP2's. If your gun likes them, they fly very well
  24. Me too. It just kept on saying 'server error'. Technology's great 'til it screws up.......
