Having been out with charts lamping and see his performance first hand iv got a honest opinion. picture the scene me n him and his dog delta over a fence wind in our face a field full of rabbits i says go you have the run first to which he replied im not running my dog as theres SHEEP in the field ,and he didnt next. he,s got lighthouse syndrome with the lamp feckin unbeleivable, he told me first hand and he cant deny it that his dog had never had more than TEN rabbits in a night some feat eh . next if you can rember the dog delta nearly broke its legs because you wanted to show how the d

Snares are simple devices and in the right hands are extremely effective, but I do think the Anti-Anything brigade will eventually get this useful weapon in the trappers armoury banned for use by Joe Public and only trappers who have been on approved training courses and are issued with a licence will be legally able to use them. YES YOUR RIGHT AND THE FECKIN INSTRUCTORS WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO TEACH YOU HOW TO SET WIRES KNOW FECK ALL THEMSELVES :censored: :censored:

i have set new snares spun directly from a new roll and used the next day and caught hundreds of rabbits on fences often having rabbits in the wires before returning home and taking large numbers over two days. obviously a new snare stands out to human eyes but on a dark windy night they catch just as many rabbits as a dull snare you may get the odd refusal but that happens with dulled snares as well i like to hang my snares to let the shine dull over but thats mainly to to deter human thieves i have dvd footage showing new snares being used directly from the roll with me and ratcherman an

woodga replied to saharashadow's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
iv never had a rabbit thrown clear of the jaws on a body gipper this happens regularly on the fenns if you dont set them correctly and a body grip trap is just as versatile as a fenn both traps have their uses -

I still get a buzz when im setting a location and the expectancy of the catch in the morning still gives me sleepless nights and thats after many thousands of rabbits . i also enjoy showing a newbie the ropes and helping them gain a bit of confidence .l so your first is a milestone i hope you have many more to come good hunting -
iv all ways had a soft spot for little boo and never ever doubted his abilty in any way iv run him down the beam a good few times and have allways found him giving 100%iv said it before he certainly can fill a game bag ,as for moll sticking with the dog when she thought he wasnt putting his all into the run thats just the way she is ,a very dedicated WOMAN

if they did they wouldnt put the miles in to give their dogs the work iv had the fortune to hit the ton mark myself with millet and moll from this forum running three dogs we manged to pip your score by three we eventually called it a night on 104 , an excellent nights lamping tomo and co . you have to work for your rabbits finding them is easy its catching them with the dog and humping them back to the road thats the killer

its not quite as easy as you might think .. before you even consider setting a wire you should contact john b from this forum john sells a snaring dvd covering all aspects of snaring ,from making the snares ,different types ,setting locations and how to become proficient at taking rabbits with wires i can vouch for the dvd as i made it lol im only trying to help you onto the right track lots of people have been shown the correct way to set and there catch rates have greatly improved. good luck
