  2. A FOX SNARE LOOP OF 8 X 10 SET UP A GOOD TEN INCHES ON OPEN TRAIL RUNS WILL CAPTURE YOUR FOX NECK SNARED EVERY TIME
  3. your right about that but why should people pay extortionate prices for must have snares ?? glen is more than willing to show how to make and assemble these snares for next to nothing so that everyone gets the benefit with out certain parties making a killing you saying thats not beneficial the only people who will lose out are the ones who spent two years developing a snare which in people who know the scores opinion is out dated iv got better desiged snares hanging in my shed ian but thats another story, hopefully this new report will put a few discrepencies right at long last
  4. who do you think is suppling snares and advice to both the scotish basc and scotish ga and ministry but glen waters , i have myself been out with officials from the central science lab here in england and have shown them how effective snares set in correct locations and setting hights can be. hopefully this will be forthcoming in the new defra snaring program glen has been using snares which put those ones your selling to shame for years and made for a fraction of the cost my friend but things never work unless they are complicated
  5. first time lamping was a bit wet but you never complained once hope next time is in th e dry lol sound lad

  6. the plastic sleeve on fox snares is there to allow you to use a wire tealer to hold your snare loop. simply use some wire the correct diametre for your plastic sleeve set your snare along a run and use the wire to hold yor snare by pushing the wire along side your snare cable inside of the sleeve these wire tealers are frequently used because of the low visiblity factor and work really well
  7. hello bro glad to see you on here as well welcome to the mad house

  8. At the end of the day a good dog will allways "out perform an average dog " regardless of the colour !! THEN AGAIN I SUPPOSE WHITE DOGS WOULD BE GOOD FOR HUNTING IN THE SNOW LOL colour should not be a reason for slating a dog it should be its working ability that counts
  9. john is a genuine gentleman and its been my good fortune to have met him all though not in prson via this site a wealth of knowledge and willing to share it !!

  10. that first rabbit must of been a big un juding buy the sise of that metal hoop you brayed in lol shame about your camera though but still you enjoyed yourself thats what counts and you didnt blank either so all in all a result nice one
  11. WELL ROB SHARPE HAS THE UNCANNY KNACK OF ALLWAYS CATCHING ME IN COPROMISING POSITIONS SO PAYBACK TIME WHILE AT SCOTLAND I JUST CAUGHT HIM IN THE ACT I THINK HE,S MADE A REAL ARSE OF HIMSELF WHAT DO YOU THINK. I THINK HE WAS LOOKING FOR A DOCK LEAF  I SHOUTED AT HIM AND HE SAT DOWN QUICKLY TRYING TO HIDE BUT AS YOU SEE HE WAS A BIT LATE PAYBACK GOT YA
  12. well during this weeks shooting trip to scotland we noticed two barn owls hunting during the day time after watching for a while we located their nest inside an old water tank. inside sat four very noisy hungry chicks
  13. nice set up there and the way the trap was sited on the slope of the tree made the closing of the door much quicker. yes you can often take the squigs nosey mates from snares placed near those cages iv actually seen one on top of a trap with a sqig inside patience paid off for you nice one
  14. nice new toy you have , that maggie probably thought the top of your baldy nut was a giant hens egg
  15. not long finished my kennels, i have doors inside the shed giving access to their sleeping quaters when i need to change their bedding. iv incorporated a channel in the runs so all the crap can be hosed straight into the sewer now it only takes a couple of mins to clean out the runs wish id done it years ago
  16. if the ability is there (ie) both parents are from working stock the ferrets will have the hunting instinct. any ferret has this instinct it just the way they are reared which curbs this aggression and the handler who dictates the way his or her ferrets are used dressing ferrets up in little outfits and giving them little toys to play with and spraying them with perfume so they wont smell horrible is ok for some but for me. a ferets role is bolting rabbits and doing what it would naturally plus giving it a comfortable and rewarding lifestyle and making sure it is well looked after handlin
  17. i choose 8-10months obviously every dog is different in how fast they mature a good dog man should be able to see when his dogs ready for a few runs little confidence building nights with say a few rabbits and ending on a high with a catch allways worked for me but some people have different methods as long as it works for you and your dog thats the important bit ,i would never dream of putting a youngster that still has puppy legs against a full grown rabbits that would surley out pace a young dog leading to frustration which in turn causing the dog to open up thats my opinion any way
  18. well today we ferreted setts that had been done on two previous occassions this season so we wernt expecting big numbers here are a few pic from the day a positive mark in this hedgerow produced six rabbits i left these ones in the thick for young mark :whistling2: six from the first little sett not a bad start we then went onto the fell and did some nice open setts resulting in a few rabbits all bolting well for a change another good mark and ther ferrets were entered the end of the session and another season bites the dust 22 raa
  19. the invite out on the shoot is just manners most social shoots abide by that un written rule and allow a farmer and helpers on the shoot a couple of days at the back end , apart from that unless the syndicate has the rabbit shooting in with their lease on the shoot the farmer is well within his rights to allow you and one other to shoot and control vermin ie pigeons rabbits crows ect, which has nothing at all to do with GAME shooting , some syndicates just want no one on the land but its not the abiding law unless they have it written on their lease.good luck in the future
  20. well sunday saw me and young markg out again two ferrets, spade, nets, the lurcher and terrier and away for the hour long ride to have some fun before the end of the ferreting season which for me will be next sunday , the ferrets can have a well deserved rest and get fat again :whistling2: any way on arrival we saw a few rabbits sitting in a small paddock just beside the farm house this padock runs along the banks of the south tyne and very picturesque although prone to flooding in bad weather. the terrier quickly found and marked the first set of the day nets were layed but nothin
  21. bloody hell you wont want to be digging many five foot holes as long as you can get a general location of where your ferret is when your searching for him when you turn the box down to pin point him you should be ok get a probe made this will help push through on the hole if you have to find the ferret at 5 foot i have several boxes exactly the same and they still get regular use im fraid theres not a lot you can do but grin and besar it
  22. wish we had some more snow up here cracking morning to be out with the ferrets or the terriers mind you do need a 4x4 to get about up on the hills hope you do get out eventually , we are just leaving now we have a hard frost and its really cold so there should be a few to ground
