Biggest Mink You Have Seen/caught ?
woodga replied to shotgunny's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
you harase a mink and it will bite you with vigour and it will spray musk on you which stinks lol . but they are wary of humans ,,small mamals and birds are no problem and a mink will take what ever it can catch natural killers just like a fox -
no getting out of those well done micky
-
if your targetting hare a 3ins mesh will be ok net can be on sliders net wants a good depth my nets are 6ft deep and 18 ft long and can cover large gates easy a shallow short net is no use at all good luck
-
pro victor will last and you will certainly have enough whack on the spring to kill him clean its allways worth having a few lying about the plastic self setting traps work well but after hard use the setting trigger becomes worn and makes setting difficult imo good luck anyway
-
yes they certainly do the job well impressed with the quality and over all performance

thats exactly the same thing i do to make the nets much quicker than knitting if you need nets in a hurry the 10z is easy to lay and covers the holes well even in windy conditions

yes ian similar but the wire is not folded back to secure the loop its held in place with a piece of tubing which pushes onto a 1 inch protrusion sticking up from the eye of the tealer the snare is held in situ by the tube the tail end of the snare goes through the eye and is held by a washer and a stop the tealer is made with thinner hytensile wire making them a lot harder to see when set
-
thats a nice loaded loop and the tealer is nearly invisible from distance nice one
-

TrapWorks - Snare making step by step dvd

marvellous what people can do when the information all ready exsits its just a revamped version of what we did way back in 2oo5 the difference is we actually know what were talking about people who make profit off other peoples knowledge with out giving them credit for the original concepts of what they do and then try and imply that they know the score really boil my piss .... :bad: -
dont get me wrong ferrets will bolt rats from out of holes but some time, s a ferret will encounter a big old buck rat or a big female mother rat that will fight rather than shift, some people use smaller bitch type ferrets so they can get into the smalller holes these are the ones most at risk the big dog ferrets will kill a rat no problem.. what i know from experiance is the smell of ferrets alone would not stop a rat investigating any food source or such ,the best way as all ready mentioned would be to kill all invading rats then deter entry i have four traps lying permanently set in tunnel
-
the smell of the ferrets wont deter the rats one bit .iv had rats in the shed ontop of the ferret hutches in full view of the ferrets the only way i sorted the problem was to put mk4s and body grip traps down kill ofdf the offenders then secure the shed where they had chewed a hole in through the roof

dodgy character that tea pot fella ... you want to be wearing tin underpants when hes, about ............ nice neck snared rabbits did paul show you how to set them he can snare a bit now but still feels the urge to come up for a refresher god help me january isnt that far off .keep up the good work ............
-
your definately right in one thing thats not the way to tension snares  id hate to see you doing a few hundred LOL keep practicing even as you watch the telly and dont be afraid of the wire it wont break you will get there in the end nothing hard about it
-
i find that i would always endevour to make my own snares having tried various shop bought snares that were poorly manufactured , i was looking to have a snare that was quick to make and effective closing fast and doing what it was designed for catching fox . i have used a number of eyelets and various lenghts of cable in this quest and still continue to devise new methods its all part of the fun. quality and performance are paramount to me
-
you crack me up sod lol and as for you january is a long way off . shed now has a lock on the door to keep out the rats
