i have two working bushing terriers. both will work any cover and push out game for either gun or lurchers one excells at drystone walling some times even marking 20 plus rabbits by herself, both terriers peg rabbits nearly every outing. the lurchers know to follow the terriers and collect all the rabbits what leave hastily the ground we work is open moor and fields of tussuck reeds watching them work the cover amazes me considering we are on the move for a full day.they never stop from jumping out the motor to being put back in . an average day will be around 20 rabbits ,if the terriers h

well it started off with things going to plan , I had been watching this field for a few weeks and knew there were a good few rabbits coming out from the river banks and the railway line. They were well out so the dogs had a good chance to run them down we split up and i watched as moll went along the river fence line.I saw her lamp scan the field and the dog being slipped and could see the dog running . any way i was into a few rabbits with molls little whippet boo. He was running with determination and he soon accounted for 5 rabbits from 5 runs .We met up in the middle of the field and i

any one work 1st cross collie greyhounds
woodga replied to The Hob's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
i have a genuine first cross i run him on all game excellent lamp dog brilliant nose most people who see him run generally coment on his ability regular bags of rabbits in excess of 20 30 plus on good nights no problem he has a good turn of speed and is capable of catching a few hares if i was to give him a run on them that of course would have been pre ban he does have a hard mouth and likes to get stuck in on things with teeth saying that if you can get a good collie x you can have a good bag filler mind you iv seen some bad examples as well but iv never been dissapointed in my dog c -

the batteries themselves are an excellent bit of kit light weight and give a fair ammount of lamping time the only downside to the ten amp hour batteries is the fact they can go from a nice bright light to flat in seconds with no warning the 14 and 22amp hour have power indicators telling you how much you have left in the battery, the only bad ting about them is the fecking connector after a few sessions this will wear and a new one will required no mater how much taping up you do the wires eventually snap been there done that apart from that they are the dogs bollocks only wish id had the

THE HEADS A BEAUTY WELL DONE HOPE YOU EVENTUALLY MEET UP WITH THE BUCK WHO PUT THE HOLE IN HIS FACE

Now thats a very interesting remark considering their noses are on the front of their faces rabbit peg wires are more than capable of taking young cubs around the neck their noses dont open the noose they fit straight in as you said they have a small tapering head and a normal peg snare wire has plenty of room for error . As with rabbits the setting hight is the same and this is when you pick them up . now an adult thats a different story , usually they get caught around the leg and just bite straight through the wire as though it had been cut with wire snips we normally average
