R.I.P. Young un... regards no bad dog, absolute tosh! over the yrs, i have kept and worked bullbreeds and terriers. all were raised and reared in exactly the same conditions. the vast majority were steady dogs, but at least a couple you had to be on your toes around. the last bulldog i owned was a prime example. i'd add tho, these dogs were all kept for sport, kennelled and handled accordingly with no problems ever arising ( and I'm a married father of two). put these dogs in the pet home, brought for their appearance/status and you've got a whole lotta bother waiting to happen... Bob Mee's book is a good'un... but its mostly stuff taken from Egans 'Boxiana'...i love reading about the old bare knuckle era...1790-1860s ...Jon Hurleys done a couple of good books from around that time about Cribb and Spring well worth a read...but if people want to read about a proper bare knuckle boxer...JEM MACE...FIFTY YEARS A FIGHTER...a cracking read written in the mans own words...an important piece of British and Boxing history...from the last of the Bare knuckle Champions and the first World Champion. Swaffham (beeston) boy mace, not a million miles from where i'm sat. i'll stick

I read it n thought the same thing but must be getting old. Was a time I would have gave abit of an arsehole reply. Way I see it his probably new to the dogs. Sure hell get more educated as he gets into em but hey least his doing something with the dog. Far to many get em and just leave em to get fat in the garden. aye, i suppose your right, and i'm getting old also. but i still will never get my head around why you would get a "sporting/working" type bull and use it for chasing rabbits? every cripple has his way of walking i spose...but like you say, fair play to the lad for getting off -

regards books, four kings, about hagler/duran/leonard and hearns is a belter. just started reading "no middle ground" about the benn/eubank/watson match ups, aint far enough into it to give an opinion yet...Bare fists by bob mee is a good book on the days before gloved boxing, giving accounts from broughton and slack, right thru to sullivans fight with kilrain. great read for the history buffs! Yokel

think the last recorded fatal attack was 89 off italy, may have been another in the early 90's. like i say, it's percentage wise, think there has only been around 60 attacks recorded since the early 1900's, which is f**k all compared with south africa/aus etc. but a fair lump of those 60 were deadly! them big white sharks are out there. when i was working in rhodes back in 93 they caught a good few 4mtr + sharks about a mile off shore, only made the local greek rags tho, don't think they wanted the tourists knowing to much about it... An important scientific fact to remember tho about sharks

there are not more attacks, but of the attacks that have happened in the med, a far larger number(percentage wise) are fatal as opposed to the other countrys... Yokel

Him fishing about with his hands reminds me of a fella i met on a ratting meet up Leicestershire way a few yrs back. we'd been told about this bloke before we drove up, and thought they were over egging it abit. when we got there we was in tears, this fella was on his hands and knees, throwing the terriers out of the way whilst he dug into the rat holes with his bare hands grabbing hold of anything that moved, getting bitten the lot! never seen nowt like it. i recon if we killed 200 rats, this fella had caught 150 of em...lol! i'd be surprised if there aint a couple on here who don't know who

i think the delboy/fury affair depends on what delboy turns up for the fight. he was nowhere near his best when fury beat him last time, and i really think, on a good night, delboy has the beating of him. regards chris jnr, i really can't take to the fella. if he'd have been himself more rather than trying to emulate all that silly arse posturing of his fathers he may have been abit more watchable to me. he seems smart enough, but i think this will be a real test for him...j.m.o.
