deepest i ever had was 11 odd foot, on my own! had taken a dog out mid week to a nice two holer i'd always had an easy bolt from in the past, old mk 1 box and collar. put net over one hole, dog in t'other. dog started baying pretty sharpish then on the move. sat back and waited for the net to tighten....and waited, then heard a nice steady bay again, knocking at 8ft, thought i'll give him awhile to settle, then he moved on deeper...first 4ft or so was quite easy going but quickly turned into a b*****d! it was a good half days digging and finally broke thru to a dirty great dog fox and a rather

off the top of my head, hinks took the "old bull and terrier" types, which where the fore runners of what would become known as staffordshire bull terriers. he crossed these with the white english terrier, then dalmation, whippet etc etc, to create a white bodied, refined bull terrier for the dandys to prance about with. the coloured version was created by crossing back into the old bull and terriers...there is a fella, who i believe is called kevin kane, he 's the man for the history on these dog's... -

at the end of the day, it's down to the individual to choose what he wants to cross into his own line of dogs, and if he's only breeding for himself alone, then he could add Pomeranian if his heart desired. but why dilute working blood with a breed that has never been bred to work? that non working blood is then in the mix to rear it's head in later generations. as mr cooney said, there are enough good hard working terriers out there, so why add a breed that's to big with no working heritage? each to his own i suppose...A.T.B. i deliver to a fella out in rural essex who trains a variety of birds for the movie/film market. travels all over the world. was admiring a big old raven last time i was round there, turns out to be used in "game of thrones" recons their a pain in the arse because they're so intelligent they'll only perform when THEY want to, as opposed to other birds who'll do what you want as long as there's a bit of food on offer!... I've broke many a pair of fighting staffs up bgd.the best way I've found with out a break stick is a good hard twist on the collar.strangle them off while kneeling on the dog.then a good kicking for it. Strangling off with the collars can be the best way to go about it if you don't know the dogs or can't trust them not to redirect but I'd rather just pull their jaws apart, quicker and less chance of causing more damage first things first...get their back legs off the floor.... yokel
