  1. IMO Rabbit Hunter hit the nail on the head. Using a bar just makes life harder on the terrier (but easier on a lazy terrierman) who already has a hard enough job to do . I know most of you will say that you've never heard of over zealous use of the bar hurting but I know of two cases where the bar done damage. Once to a terrier and once to the quarry.
  2. The Red Hand of Ulster, The Gallent Hendrix, both pure breds. Ch. Psycho, Ch.Stormer, Ch. Marvin all part EBT and Frisco Sport who was half EBT and won ten shows in the fast lane in America in the 20s.Would I touch that blood nowadays ??????????? I might be mad, but, I'm not that mad !!!!!!! Let's be honest though, the EBT cross shouldn't be found wanting on any legal British quarry. Even the mighty APBT won't always have it's own way against certain foes.... So you're saying that in the field the EBT is gamer than the APBT. IMO thankfully those days are gone but also IMO that statement pr
  3. I brought up the subject on finding bars to try and start an arguement, LOL. I hate the bloody things..................and I own 3. They're the most over rated ,over used tools. I argued against them on a topic on here before and it looked like I was the only who doesn't use one. Lads spend a small fortune on a locator and then sink a bar hole to be sure to be sure. Very silly.

  5. 3 pages on necessary kit and I'm delighted to see that no one has said you need a good finding bar.

  7. 50 names signed at the end of an open letter saying that DT is not fit to be president. Some of the signatures are from top ex CIA. Maybe it's a polite way of saying to step down Donald before we take you out ?
  8. Mutation Diamond Dove after escaping from somewhere.
  9. It's a pity how times have changed. The well known lurcher man, John Kelly, used to run an excellent show in County Louth and I remember one morning having 3 or 4 digs and then going straight to the show and showing the terriers we worked that morning. There was an English gamekeeper out with us and he was wearing tweed breeks. At an Irish terrier show in the late 80s that sure did turn a few heads, LOL. At the end of the day ,like in those days, the workers should still get first priority.
  10. He hasn't a leg to stand on.
  11. Around me it's the opposite. Don't know why but very few . Even the old reliables like the Meadow Brown are rare. I seen a hatch of Red Admirals the other day and that's been the high light of my butterfly year. Seems to be plenty of Moths about though.
  12. Working wheatens are indeed like Kerry Blues in that they have 4 legs, a head and a tail. That's where the similarities end.
  13. Nice find Bushranger and I see it was followed by an article by Richard Clapham who wrote one of the best hunting books ever IMO, but, even back then I see that there was as much written about appearance as performance. What has the colour of a dogs eyes or toenails got to do with gameness ??? Like I said before it was only when the proper dogmen took over the trials in the 70s that the wheat was sorted from the chaff and the curs went to one side.
  14. I don't see a problem, he still has one good one.
  15. Them Derry lads like trying to give u a hard time Neil. Them Derry lads like trying to give u a hard time Neil. Them Derry lads like trying to give u a hard time Neil. To be fair to them they do tend to say it to my face (well on the computer ) . It's the slithery snakes in the grass that are the biggest pains. The ones who rather have someone else give you hassle through their lies. Such is life.
  16. Let them at it. The more unbelievable rubbish they come out with the more Joe Public will dis-own them.

  18. Those who like Collie blood in their lurchers do so for the brains, stamina and hunting style a collie adds. What would Irish Terrier in this day and age add. Guts ? Nothing that Bull or Wheaten wouldn't add in more abundance. Stamina ? Nothing a Saluki cross wouldn't have more off. Coat ? Then you should ask yourself a serious question if coat is a main priority. The Topic is about EBTs and has turned to lurchers. As much as I would have absolutely no time for English Bulls around me the best lamping dog I ever seen or owned was 1/8 EBT 3/8 Staff and half Greyhound.
  19. I was asked a question. I gave an honest answer , where's the problem ? That's all I'll be saying regarding that show.
  20. I've no problem with you starting a thread on me, after all the last time you started one on me you made an open apology to me for telling lies. I was going to go to the show as some friends asked me to go and there would have been other friends there. But the thought of having to look at the grass Pat The Rat would turn my stomach, so I went fishing instead. And NO, I wont leave Stop End alone. He deserves all he gets. He should be glad of the little bit of slagging he gets off me. If everyone who has something bad to say about him said it then he'd be on here 24/7.
  21. Bad start to the Irish boxing squad. Hope he gets there.
