  1. Yes, I've heard of taping a transmitter to sewer rods to locate a terrier before but the camera would give you a little bit more info, especially finding out what exactly went on. In the case of a collapse you might even be able to dig the other side of the collapse instead of digging down into it. For 50 quid if you had to use it once in a lifetime but it saved a terrier then it'd be worth. I'm no gadget geek but I'd use anything to save a terrier, and it's quarry for that matter.
  2. I just mentioned the eating of pups as part of the example. Screaming on the lead, grabbing everything that moves and killing small dogs and pups are all traits some purists would associate with curs.
  3. Anyone ever used one of those drain inspection cameras on a rescue ? One of the chain stores ,Lidl or Aldi, is selling cheap ones for ,I think, around 50 quid. I always wondered would having one in the vehicle just in case they'd help in sand or rock to find a mute or dead terrier or even dead quarry ? Would they be strong enough to push through sand in the event of a collapse ?
  4. A champion of the crossbred hunting dog.
  5. Can't sign it as I'm not a British citizen but good luck with it. Every hunting person should sign it and have all their folk do it too to ensure they stay safe out hunting.
  6. Fair play, I presume you whacked it off something to dispatch it ? Brave man, if it had any life in it it might have got you. When we used to hunt them with terriers now and again you'd see one slip away unseen from the terriers and a slightly raised boot over their run could peg them gently by the head while you lifted them by the tail. But we'd throw them back into the action rather than risk getting bitten.
  7. It's a cross most folk would never think of. A friend was fishing recently and one of the bailiffs was walking around picking up rubbish and had a German Wire Haired Pointer with him. My mate asked had the dog done much ? The bailiff told him it had killed 4 foxes. Past posts on here seem to agree that the GWP has a natural hatred of foxes.
  8. Lurchers and Longdogs itself is probably worth £30 and is IMO a classic. Well found.
  9. A doggy looking bitch, if they're a good worker the perfect brood IMO.
  10. Marshman, is one of the gentlemen handing the other a bottle of beer in that photo ? LOL.
  11. The spitting image of a bitch I have here, only mines black. Out of her I bred a chocolate who's the spit of her too. Uncanny.
  12. One thing is for sure about terriers that came out of Mr Goulds yard is that many a good yard or line was started by them.
  13. Two ducks check into a hotel and go to their room. After a while Mr Duck rings room service and asks for a box of condoms to be sent to his room. "Certainly Sir," said the receptionist "will I stick them on your bill ?" "Do I look like a pervert" replies Mr Duck.
  14. I thought some of my ex girlfriends had been talking out of school when I saw the title Personally I think sticking a fancy name on a mongeral is a load of bullcocks.
  15. Everyones entitled to their opinion but a lot of the traits that ye are mentioning ,ie. eating pups etc, are often traits associated with curs.
  16. What is this "pain" thing you speak of ?
  17. Read today in last weeks Shooting Times that it's predicted for 2016 to be a bad year for butterflies in GB. Yet ye seem to be seeing plenty over there. Scarce here though.
  18. f**k, I wish we had more of them over here. Fly, plug, cheese, bread and slug, Summer and Winter. They sound like the ultimate freshwater sport fish.
  19. What's a Bullcock ?????
  20. Walking a dog 1 mile 3 times a day is not the equivalent of a 3 mile walk. Years ago I heard of a man who lived on the banks of a canal and used to throw a couple of young lads a few bob to walk his dogs. He'd get on an old Honda 50 and ride out to where he wanted the dogs walked to and with a bit of chalk he'd write a number on a bridge. He'd then tell the young chaps to bring back that number. Lazy, but genius, LOL.
  21. JMHO but when someone is asked "what do I need to get into terrierwork" regarding kit and someone replies "a good coat and boots" then to me that means they're thinking of themselves and not the terrier, quarry and a successful dig. A good locator on your terrier and good tools that allow you to get down to your terrier quickly (and most terriermen have a favourite shovel just as a brickie has a favourite trowel) and a safe way of dispatching your quarry are first and foremost the important things. Vehicles, trailers and the latest boots from Norway don't make you a terriermen. But on
  22. Blaise, in your photos there's always some young lads and girls. Do they have a real keen interest ? Can you see terrierwork being healthy in France in 30 or 40 years time ?
  23. The very talk of sand sends shivers down my spine. I hate and fear the stuff, but, as lads said on here before some folk have no choice but to work their terriers in it. Even when there's no accidents the terriers eyes need a lot of TLC. Fatman, what I meant was that if you've used a locator to mark the terrier then you've no need to sink a bar. If you are using the bar to get the mark then there is no possible way to get the bar down behind the terrier first time, and maybe the second and third time too. I think it's fairly agreed that the finding bar can be a valuable tool when needed bu
  24. I haven't heard of any dogs dieing as a result of the vaccine they received but I was told a while back that there's a lot of vaccines being sold that are useless.
  25. Did you never use them Neil, you said you had 3? Strange item to collect if not to use them. I know a man in my area decided to try the digging game, he was a shooting man, while out digging on day he was as you say Neil an over zealous individual on the bar and put it through the dogs head, no more dog, his own dog mind, he was asked out no more nor did he ever get involved again. Anyone can make a tool look bad, but they all had/have their uses. Mary, like Bull McCabe I was shown how to use them by those who showed me the ropes, and the old Deben grey boxes they often decided to st
