  1. For normal working terriers ,I disagree. I know a bit about using mills and when it comes to hunting dogs mills are more of a benefit to the owner than the dog.
  2. I went there it's only a hour tour !! Nice place though We didn't go there when we were in Tennessee, but is it right the distillery is in a dry state and they can't sell it or give you free samples? f**k that so. I'd have to bring my own.
  3. Personally I'd visit the Jack Daniels distillery. I doubt that wouldn't take up more than 3 or 4 days of your trip.
  4. Isn't he fighting the Grouse shooting argument as we speak with the twat off Springwatch, I can't remember his name. He has a head like a toothbrush. Cwis something or another.
  5. what gave me away haha, what years do you have mate, i have a few spares. they are bringing one out this year for there 50th anniversary i will keep you informed neil When I bought the video, maybe 11 or 12 years ago, I got a couple of year books at the same time. Very surprised more folk haven't seen the video as it's not bad at all, and nice to have as well as contributing to a good cause. Is it still available ?
  6. Countryside and fieldsports go hand in hand. Beefy Botham for me.
  7. Yep some lads prefere cat food to dog food but IMO it makes no difference and also regarding protein in youngsters ,some lads reckon not to do the protein to much as stags as birds will grow to quickly.
  8. I like Grades myself, never had one but might some some day.
  9. My lurcher does the same and lets a quiet bark out of her if one is holding.
  10. Rat Face, you're obviously a member of The Fell and Moorland, tell me, do they still produce the annual book ? I got it a couple of times years ago and always enjoyed the rescues etc. reported in it.
  11. well Neil I beg to differ on the best border as the one I had the pleasure of gracing the soil to him was a top notch dog too, top with another black dog both long at rest now,I have also dug to a couple of good working borders,2 we had ourselves and 1 which a mate owned. This dog came from a pet home in Dublin where my mate was doing work, the lady of the house wanted rid as it was killing the local cats.My mate took this dog home on a friday and dug to it on the sunday,1st time to be around an earth. The dog went on to make a bit of a name for himself up until the day he died, sadly his owner is
  12. Great to see some common sense in 3 pages of otherwise nonsense.
  13. I've seen a concert of their's live on video, they're very good.
  14. For those who like a glass of poitin, or as the yanks call it, moonshine.
  15. I'll presume your getting either for free or else you'd be buying a good poultry grain. If I was getting them for free I'd take both and add cracked maize and barley to make a good mix. I don't feed a pellet but have no problem with them but do feed a good mix with some soaked dogfood mixed in.
  16. No not the lure, more like suicide father. My father tells me he was coarse fishing on a lake in Cavan a couple of days ago and it was a good Roach a chuck. Then some Mallard came in and landed in his swim and one duck got wrapped up in his line and took off to a nearby reed bed and got wrapped up again. My father thought the duck was in trouble so stripped off and swam out. As he got to the duck it un-wrapped itself and flew off. He's 73, doesn't turn on his mobile, doesn't make up his mind on a venue until he's on the road. Recipe for disaster. But telling me the tale was chuffed t
  17. well Neil I beg to differ on the best border as the one I had the pleasure of gracing the soil to him was a top notch dog too, top with another black dog both long at rest now, I did say one of the best, LOL, and strangely for a brilliant terrier Dandy went through 5 owners before dieing after a hard dig. If I remember correctly the boys said Dandy's brother was even better, but I never dug to him. I think there was a 20 + foot dig to a Border terrier in the Munster area last year. So they're not extinct yet but very rare.
  18. Get yer coat, you've pulled. How do you like yer eggs in the morning ? Usually followed by "unfertilized, now f**k off." And one I actually seen used was a lad asking a girl "Have you got your mother or your fathers eyes ?" She replied "My mothers." He said "Tell your mother she's got beautiful eyes." Don't know what he'd have said if she said she had her fathers eyes.
  19. Memories of the show for me was Jack coarse fishing and noticed movement from a pike so put on a roach and put it out. Hooked the pike and used a gaff to land it before putting it back. Compared a pigeon shooter in a hide to a machine gunner on a WW11 war plane, in that he had to keep his head going continuously from left to right. He called a terrier cross whippet a "coney dog". And my favourite was he comparing the newcomer to the countryside to the old woman who had to walk 2 miles for a bus. I was a big fan, LOL.
  20. I reckon I dug a few times to one of the best Borders of the last 30 years (obviously many will argue) but many men seen the dog and agree. He was Dandy. Ray Walker bred. We had a 10 footer to him and when the quarry got away he was dropped again and we dug another 10 footer to him. And he wasn't a shy type of worker. Dandy was the father of Sam , who's in the pedigree of a lot of good black terriers. But back to the Border. In the last few years most keepers of Borders I've met (not them all) have been of the dreaming kind. Would there be a Border man out there now who could bring out 3

  22. I had one down of that breeding and she was quiet useful and worked to a good age. Not brilliant, but useful.
  23. How! LOL, I only had the question asked when I thought of the scientific show "How" that J.H. was on, it was a great show. The one I meant was "Old Country."
  24. What would you suggest we compare the EBT too ? Jack Russells maybe ? I would think that a lot of the best Russells out there are gamer than the best EBTs. The EBT is a bull type so why not compare them to others. If you're happy with your EBT then that's all that you need to worry about, but, if you think you have the cream then that's wide open to debate. The reason I always get carried away with these debates is because I hate to see good breeds being insulted by those who keep sooners and say their curs are the best. That's when it's time for the truth. As for pig dogs ? Just m
  25. Loved Out of Town, 11 o clock on a Saturday morning. No picture post card images of the countryside with Jack, he talked of the countryside as a working landscape. Who can tell me the other series he done ?
