I never go by looks Danny and theres only one way to find out and thats collar the dog and enter it, you can have fresh looking heavily padded holes that hold nothing and yet get one in a hole full of leaves, quite often they get run to ground unseen and will hole up in the first place of refuge whether its a hole, drain or anything, WM You must be wrong mate, all the real experts on here say their terriers can tell if theres something in before they even get to the holes Cheers, D. I argued on here a while back that the only way you can tell if an earth is holding or empty is to h

When a friend was over with Mr Boudreaux a few years back he said they had a couple of Patterdales on the yard. Maybe they were Guys and not Floyds but have they still got some and is that where you got yours ?

Seen a yard of bulldogs one time where every dog was on a chain attached to a chest freezer. The owner had cut a square hole as the door and finished the edges with tin. Each chain was attached to a bolt that went through the wall of the freezer. They were warm in cold weather, cool in hot weather and to clean them you just lifted the lid and threw everything out the door. It was unusual to see around 30 chest freezers around a garden but they were a good job.

They can't bring anything to the table that a good Fell terrier can't. Years ago here in Ireland they filled the void that the Fell terrier now fills. Yes, the Cork terriers have Russell and Bull in them but are they what would be called a bull X russell ? But, as I've said before, one of the most useful terriers I've ever seen was a staff cross russell who accounted for 200 + head of game a year for a few years (before a useless lurcher killed him.) but that was back in the day when good staffs and good russells could be found. Could it be done as easy nowadays ?

Too true Chesney, the only undesirable colour in a terrier is yellow and whether we like it or not EVERY line throws up the odd yellow one. -
Altogether now...................AAAWWWWWWW. Another job well done Rob, .

Etiquette/ Appropriateness Question
neil cooney replied to Flairball's topic in Driven, Walked Up, Rough Shooting
Drinks associated with shooting and hunting have always been those associated with putting some warmth into the drinker. Nowadays a lot of our shooting is done in warm conditions but being as old fashioned as we are still stick with those heart warming drinks. So IMO a bottle or two of a nice tipple that will curl your toes will always be appreciated , no matter what flavour. -

JMHO but I always thought colour had a lot to do with the reason the EBT was introduced into some lines of White workers. The first generation was nearly guaranteed to come white. -
I never ate wedding cake yet that tasted nice (my own left a bad taste in my mouth for years) but that is genius. Tasty and practical.

How long ago is that Wilbur ? If you don't mind me asking ? How long ago is that Wilbur ? If you don't mind me asking ?in the1990,s 95 i think Oh OK, Brian brought one over in the late 80s that self entered at 8 months and I was just wondering if it was around the same time. It was a son of Mickeys he brought over and it did a serious job on it's first dig which was 8 foot. I ended up with a son of this dog who's heart was bigger than his brain, LOL.

Ok, I thought that. Horse and Hound used to do an issue just before the season started with a directory of all British Hunts. If they still do it keep an eye out.

Gladly.

I've been getting Hounds for a few years now and enjoy it but I didn't know Baileys still did their diary. I thought they were only on line.

A few years ago a farmer rang me to move vermin and when checking the earths I found a hole 20 yards from the ditch not backfilled with about 40 heifers in the field. Funny enough there was 1 at home so I backfilled my own dig and the one out in the field. I told the farmer to not ring me if he was letting cowboys on the land. If a beast had broke a leg in that hole I'd have been blamed. Next time the cowboy showed up the farmer said NO as he hadn't backfilled the last time. He told the farmer it wasn't him and it was probably that c**t Cooney. United we stand my arse, LOL.

There's no doubt about that and the legendary stories and out going temperament of the so called Patterdale would appeal to a lot of folk, until it kills the neighbours cat or gets lost underground that is.

Tell me about it Kaizer, I know only to well about those who go back to your hard earned permission and leave them in a disgraceful state.

Gotta agree with those who mentioned Strong Stuff.

Yep Treehands, I've even seen them sleeping in the snow. But most folk agree that it often takes the wet and cold to put them to ground but I've seen them a few times to ground in mid Summer and I can only guess it's to get out of the heat.
