  1. Yep, a lovely litter indeed and I remember those bitches. It helps a lot when they want for nothing while being reared.
  2. Funny that, but I always keep bitches too but took back a nice dog pup out of a litter out of a dog I bred. If I'm there he's out with two Springers and a Lurcher and he has their heads wrecked.
  3. I don't believe that, any man who had 4 wives would have killed himself by now.
  4. I have a similar pup here and told someone the other day that if it was one of my kids I'd have it seen by a psychiatrist. Stone mad.
  5. The next time I blank I'm going to use the excuse that I think the fish were allergic to worms.
  6. TinyTiger, do you remember a time when all greyhound men were lean and fit. How many do you see nowadays that haven't seen their feet in years. My daughter used to workride for a small but very successful horse trainer. He refused to have a horse walker on his yard but always galloped them on the gallops and the beach and gave them long hacks on the road. One time the son of Irelands top NH trainer spent a couple of days on the yard and asked the trainer why were his horses always so happy. But that's all well and good talking about greyhound and horse trainers but terriermen need to be
  7. 21 years ago. Would there still be much of his breeding around ? It had a good name back in the day and they were good looking terriers, just like the terrier in the pic.
  8. He's done a bit of back tracking on his promise to chuck 11 million illegals out and Sarah Palin has said if he goes down the road of back tracking on his promises he has no chance.
  9. Well done and fair play on the C + R .
  10. One of the funniest things I've seen regarding mills was a chap sitting in his sitting room watching Coronation Street with a baby monitor beside him. The other monitor was out in the garage beside the mill which his bulldog was running and when he'd hear the mill slowing down he shout into the monitor to speed the dog back up.
  11. That's what makes me laugh about mills. Lads think they're a great way of exercising a dog while you have your dinner etc. but to use a mill properly you should walk the dog before putting him on the mill to empty him out (you could damage his kidneys etc. otherwise) and you should walk him after his mill work to cool down. While he's on the mill you've to stand beside him because only a fool would leave a dog on a mill unaided as things can go seriously wrong.Hunting dogs need mental stimulation as well as aerobic exercise and running while looking at a wall is not stimulation. JMHO but terr
  12. When you hear of black lakies the name Brightmoore is never far away. Just out of interest, but, what year did Mr Brightmoore pass ?

  14. There used to be a pub in a nearby town with the owners name in big letters over the door , P.ENNIS. And I swam in a swimming pool that had a sign up saying, "WELCOME TO OUR SWIMMING OOL. NOTICE THERE'S NO P IN IT, KEEP IT THAT WAY PLEASE."
  15. Neil will be fuming now Aye that's me kicked out of the magic circle No, not at all. You just put up the wrong info, not your fault.
  16. They are the rules used by the kennel club 'till '66. Using dogs to hunt badger in Eire was legal till the mid 70s. IMO it was after 66 that the trials were properly used for testing terriers because before that an Irish breed of terrier couldn't get his green star in the show ring unless he had passed a trial. How open to corruption was that if show folks past reputations for getting rosettes was. The trials that we discuss on here were for working dogmen and many's a wheaten X staff or EBT X Wheaten and so on were entered. The K.C. wouldn't have allowed this pre 66.
  17. .I don't know why he bothered with them to be honest Money ?? The fella definately wasn't in dogs for the money.I think I gave him 30quid and 40quid for my first 2 blacks and he jabbed them up for me.someone told me once if he took a shine to ya he'd sort you out but if he didn't you'd get fook all lol You know something Marshman, that was the way with a lot of old timers. They could spot a fool at half a mile but if they thought a chap was 100% they'd treat him well. As a result they often got called rouges and such.
  18. Better than the original IMO and you don't have to look at Brian May either.
  19. I hope no one puts up a copy of the rules. It's a very private part of history in the Irish working dog game. Regarding the trials not being a game test ? I was going to stay out of a silly thread, IMO, but to not give credit to two of the gamest breeds ever would be an insult. The trials resulted in the working type Staff and the Wheaten becoming very fine tuned game dogs. So there must of been something in the trials to produce game dogs. IMO it was more of the level of competition than the trial itself. There were judges present and you had to have better than everyone else to get in th
  20. I'm talking about Pitdogs, plenty used them on quarry in the field as well as in the box back in the day. I understand now. This practice was scorned on by trial men and pit men, using a strong dog at the end of a dig proved nothing about the dog most curs will draw in the daylight(sheep dogs,German Shepard's,Springers,Kerry Blues)to name just a few.The other practice letting them mix it on the sod, most just did not like it or do it,it proved nothing either, again most curs will engage in this practice if let.
  21. I wish we had them in our local rivers, it would save me having to go to the local supermarket for my caviar. It's always in the morning when my toast is done that I find I'm out of caviar. Very annoying.
  22. He's back. This is what the beeb needs, LOL.
  23. Any phone numbers for these girls Blaise ? Purely to discuss terrierwork .
