  1. Done more or less the same on Sunday morning and got a lovely run for my lurcher with her pilot taking her under a gate and into the next field. I ran to the gate only to see my lurcher coming back to me through a field of new born lambs. Couldn't believe my eyes. That's the earliest I've ever seen lambs. Still, it might make for a few call outs when the weather hardens.

    Oops

I once got thrown out of a restaurant for asking the waitress for a quicky. I didn't know it was pronounced "Quiche".
  3. Pablo it's impossible to interpret your posts properly , but I did understand that the terrier bit you, fair play to him for that, BUT did you say you didn't see him for a few weeks ?
  4. Rat Face, it seems cruel that I gave you a "like" as I could feel your pain. But that's how us terriermen are and when one of us get bitten the rest of us laugh our socks off . Sorry, .
  5. That's the first question I'd have asked. Or better still, what age was she when she seen her first rabbit ?
  6. Don't do hangovers but if I had an iffy stomach Brandy and Port works a treat.
  7. Treehands, when you say scar healed bunnies do you think with myxi that most of the scars are on top of the head, just over the eyes. Look at the rabbit in Peters pic and there's some hair missing just below the eye. That doesn't look like a myxi rabbit to me. I'm worried that RHD is rampant here in Ireland. The second strain of it ,RHD 2, has been proven to spread to Hares.
  8. Skycat, I heard a very good Greyhound trainer giving similar advice nearly 30 years ago.
  9. Good girl her. Regarding the truth will always come out ??? I don't find that funny. I only winced a couple of times, LOL. Regarding bolting foxes going between someones legs ? I once bolted a fox and it ran straight between the legs of one of the best National Hunt jockeys of all time. Wont be naming him, but it's my claim to fame, LOL.
  10. Peter, keep an eye on the area where you seen that. I live a little over an hour from you and I think RHD is rampant around here at the moment, as well as myxy. I was talking to a man this morning who seen a rabbit a few days ago sitting beside a bale of straw looking straight at him and he jumped on it. The Rabbit was dead, warm, but eyes open and looked other wise healthy. I know with RHD they die underground but around here landowners are seeing Rabbits dying in their fields without the scabs and scars associated with myxi.
  11. Sound Danny, let me know if you're bringing that Staff and I'll have a real b*****d lined up ,LOL.
  12. NO, I'd be too embarrassed, LOL. The worse doing I got was off a dog fox who I had by the back legs and brush and the terrier had by the nose. As I went to scruff him the terrier let go and he got my thumb and half my hand in his mouth. I asked my daughter to put the corner of the shovel in his mouth and prize it open. As she went to he let go and I said "great". In a split second he had my hand in his mouth again. I ended up with 11 bites. The next morning we were at the meet and everyone was asking what happened my hand. What I didn't know was that my daughter was telling everyone behin
  13. It's a bummer when you have dogs that hate them. All my life my dogs have hated them ,but yet, the dogs I have now ignore them, so happy days. Some folk give their dogs tranquilizers which I've never done (If I got my hands on tranquilizers I'd shove them down the throat of the assholes with the fireworks). I use to leave the outside lights on to help take away from the effect of the flashes and although I never done it maybe a radio plugged in in the kennel might help drown out the noise. It's a horrible time for dogs.
  14. Never had Pintail (nor shot one) but have to agree with those who say Widgeon are the nicest duck to eat.
  15. A hand grenade Danny, just waiting for someone to remove that pin, LOL. Only this morning I said to someone I don't like looking at photos or reading about or even discussing Strong Dogs anymore because it just makes me want to get back in. Love them but hopefully never again.
  16. problem is theirs a platform for everybody to air their grievence and with the internet it can take off and become something big . Shit like that has gone on for ages . Pompous people moaning about everything , just modern day people get the attention they crave . Years ago when i was a kid i was at a car boot sale with my old man and a local business owner was leaving the car park and flicked his smoke out the car and it bounced off my body . I was only a kid . Back then my dad shouted at the car and gave him a load of grief and he apologised unreservedly and ended up as nothing . He di
  17. You dirty old man.... Why ? It's an important job. I stand all day beside a conveyor belt and as the knickers go by I pick up each pair, inspect them and say "These'll fit her."
  18. Work in a womens knicker factory as a Diesel Fitter.
  19. I make no apologies for having a big smile while reading your post Apache, I love to see a terrierman who can take it as much as his terrier, , been there, done that, LOL.
  20. How long is a piece of string ? There are so many answers to the original question that a whole book could be wrote on the subject. I've known earths with no stop ends in them and some of them had figure of eights ,so how could a terrier get it's quarry into a stop end ? Only after a few digs would these places have a stop end. I've known educated quarry to learn that to hold a terrier mid-tube gives them an escape plan when the shovels break through. If they go by the terrier then the hunt continues. If they go back then trenching on or another hole concludes the hunt. Hard terriers will
  21. The Staff looks like it will make a nice size Danny, not overly big.
  22. I'd be getting some boot pads welded on to that baby, Liam. Ouch.
  23. In her mind she's going through a pregnancy and will go through the same cycle. I've never seen it in a young bitch ,only in middle aged bitches but they put on weight, filled full of milk and if there was pups on the yard they'd let them suckle. But, I never remember it happening during the Winter so it never affected my hunting. I'd give her a shot of Vit B.12 and hopefully that will help her body regulate itself. I'd also keep up her exercise so when she gets over it you'll have her fairly fit. A phantom pregnancy must be very bewildering to a young bitch.
  24. Would I be right in saying we're have more Easterlies than usual for this time of the year so maybe we'll see an early fall of Woodcock again this year. Time will tell, but I haven't heard of any yet. But have seen Snipe and heard of plenty of Teal.
  25. f***ing HELL Treehands, I'd love to see the size of the rat ye cut them off. As big as a fox I'd say. Will ye get them mounted ?
