  1. FFS General you tight assed f****r. I'll have to wait 'till tomorrow to read it as my father gives it to me when he's finished. I know there's a discussion about the CMW on the Lurcher forum but personally I think it's the perfect publication to have on display available to the public. It's great PR and as for those who say it's turned into a money making business ???? I thought making money was what a business was supposed to do ??? Better be a good article now Gwalchmai, this thread has us all built up now, I'll be rating it out of 10 .
  2. Not exactly a canary book but a good book non the less is "British Birds Mules and Hybrids" by Bernard Williams.
  3. The CMW can be bought in most newsagents and within it's pages it shows the respectable folk and their animals and for this very reason it's a good thing. Whether the articles are to your taste is a matter of opinion. But I'd bet that if someone wrote good articles about coursing in the good old days and how coursing can run in your blood and be addictive that they would publish them.
  4. That's all I know. I have a lot of books on racing and when I seen your post earlier I looked on the book shelf beside me and took out "The Daily Telegraph Chronicle of Horse Racing" and had a quick look. It took me about 20 seconds LOL. I'm well aware of the story behind horse and jockey but that's all I know about the horses injury.
  5. One thing I have learned about life over the years (and I've learned f**k all about life) is that friends are like terriers. You're better off with a few good ones than a load of bad ones.
  6. Two bouts of tendon trouble and a fractured hock bone. What a horse and jockey.
  7. It's the rats urine that is most likely to give your terrier Weils Disease so inoculation is essential. Regarding bites, treat them like all small cuts and keep them clean. If your terrier is likely to meet more than 1 or 2 rats then having an antibiotic on stand by will do no harm. Personally I think 6 months is too young to show a pup a rat but many will disagree.
  8. I disagree DogFox, to me that fox in the photo looks odd in more ways than just it's brush.
  9. The cops would have done it several times by now but with the make up and red afros they can't tell if he's black or white.
  10. Something I'm going to do some day for sure. Looks nice.

Your browser does not support JavaS
  12. Good post All Terrain. The last sentence says it all regarding the difference between a terrier man and someone who has terriers. Those who peddle, swap and abuse terriers are just terrier owners, the man who has the little dogs at heart is a terrier man.
  13. Raynardman, did you look at the bit of a tail to see was it amputated or natural looking ? Maybe it's the photo but to me that fox looks a little short coupled and a little short in the leg too. It would be interesting to know if it was born like that or bobbed by accident. Was he moving properly before you shot the poor divil ? LOL.
  14. They would survive perfectly well in the Irish countryside as there's a small population of Brown Hares in the North but for a club affiliated to the ICC to do it they would probably be breaking the law and it would also give ammunition to the antis.cheers neil for clearing that up.you would think though that catching hares from certain death when shot on a drive relocating them would be the right thing to do.we dont hear antis flying that flag. They would survive perfectly well in the Irish countryside as there's a small population of Brown Hares in the North but for a club affiliated to th
  15. Maybe time for a little editing here Mods ? Otherwise it was a good thread.
  16. Funny enough, years ago when we used to fly into Liverpool for the Waterloo Cup we used to remark on the amount of hares and grey partridge that used to be on their runways.
  17. Spot on Fox Digger. IMO too the buzzard is the main reason in the decline in hares nowadays. Chemicals on the land was a concern 40 years ago but there was always plenty of hares. The fox, the lurcherman and the coursing clubs have always been there too but the decline in hare numbers coincided with the rise in buzzard numbers. Mind you, 70 or hares in a place as big as Dublin airport is hardly being rotten with them. 30 years ago if you took most places of the same acreage as there there would probably have been the same number of hares.
  18. OK Glyn, the reason I asked was because a bitch called Rags, down from Poker, was put to a black and tan called Zeb, belonging to a Dave Mc, who you told me was a good producer, and that mating produced the great terrier that Fatman started this thread about. I had some of it myself so that's my interest.
  19. I heard its empty now si hooefull they make a come back. I hope you mean the Hares Peter.
  20. I keepered in big hunting ground 15 years ago and we used to get big Cubs in sept/ October that were bobbed a few on either side of estate moving in , I always put it down to man had done it relocating them That's interesting ???
  21. Would that Rags be out of Chip and Milly, Glyn ?
  22. Either Daniel ,you are hard of hearing OR you have no neighbours for a two mile radius, LOL. If I walk through my yard with a brush in my pocket they all kick off. A dead fox on show would be louder than a Metallica concert, LOL. To be fair regarding ragging ? I've seen many very good terriers go through their whole careers without a rag. Some of them would be up there with the best. It's not something I think is necessary but we do all do what has worked for us before. Note to self = Never buy a house next to Daniels ,LOL.
  23. He's a gentleman and a good sport, which is just as well when you see threads like this, LOL.
