  1. Ok got a 11 1/2 week old pup been out daily since Tuesday when I was fully covered by vaccines, pup shows an interest in cents occasionally with its nose to the ground but doesn't wander off, stick to me like glue which is good for now but it got me wondering, what do you guys expect young pups to progress to and by how old? I know he's only a baby and I'm not wanting him to grow up before he should but looking to know what should be expected progress wise
  2. Wore altbergs for years but id never use gortex lined boots good at keeping water out but if any comes over the top they keep it in even better takes twice as long for gortex boots to dry its better to just give the leather a good polish regularly that's normally all the water proof you'll need
  3. 100% waterproof and not bad for warmth or you can use merino liner socks and your guaranteed warm dry feet
  4. Got stung four times last night, had a problem this year with a nest that cant be reached
  5. getting an air rifle to try for some permissions plus have been told the sire and dam were only used for bushing so will look into getting an sgc some time in the future if he shows any interest in entering, have a converted loft which seems like the perfect place for a gun clamp to go , does anyone one here have any contacts for the Northumberland and Durham working terrier club, seems like a good idea to go along and meet some people before the pups up enough to start anything,
  6. Where abouts in north east? I'm looking to get into terrier working and looking for someone to tag along with to learn
  7. I was sold the pup as a homebred Irish hunting terrier X patterdale and was told its an irish colrain red line has anybody heard of these
  8. Had a look into the SGC and if I'm understanding it right I would need proof of permissions to use vermin control as a reason to obtain the certificate so thinking of getting an air rifle and trying for some permission for bunnies and rats, I read somewhere about muzzle velocity having to be under 12lb to not need a fire arms certificate, looking at a falcon fn12 raptor anyone got any experience with these?
  9. Will get looking for permissions then, first port of call will be my old mans uncle, used to run and live on a farm near darlo perhaps he knows the current manager or owner still
  10. Bought the pup off a lad in Pontefract and its a bit of a mission getting down that way regularly, would be looking for someone to stick with for a good few seasons, id be willing to just go along and help out without the dog as he's only just 9weeks, how did most lads on here start off
  11. Looking for someone around bishop auckland/ Darlington area to show me the ropes with terrier work, have a young pup and no idea where to start with field work, have him pushing through light brambles and nettles all ready, but would really like to have him going to ground when he's old enough to start, so looking for someone knowledgeable to help me get into the sport and guide me.
  12. Thanks for the welcomes, does anyone know of any hunters around Darlington/ south county durham
  13. New to the site and to the whole working dog scene, I have a 16mth patterdale X jrt bitch and a 2mth old homebred Irish terrier x patterdale (colrain red line) I was told, looking for someone local to show me and my terriers the ropes
