In nude restaurants the most popular fellow is the one who can carry two coffees and 10 donuts to his table.

It sure sounds tasty though.

Jay Call Birds For Offer.
neil cooney replied to fireman's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
They ain't allways the easiest of birds to catch without a jay call bird hence why i've put them up on here rather than culling them straight off, "will they come into a different species of call bird?" these were caught with a jackdaw in one larsen and in a crow trap with a crow as call bird for the other one(first time me and the keeper have seen it happen though ),all corvids hate each other as they know what the others can do so yes they can pull in others as well as their own as well ... Thanks Fireman, I've only ever seen one near one of my traps, but then again, I don't trap near muc -
I agree 100% . I keep my terriers a bit heavier than most lads simply because I've seen terriers coming out a pound or two lighter than they went in. So imagine what 20 hours or more would do and that can happen any terrier if they get trapped.

Admit it Daniel, if the wife chucks you out for coming home late and drunk you've made a nice bed for yourself, LOL. Been there done that, only it wasn't the wife, it was the mother.

OK, so now that everyone knows what I look like I'll tell the truth about that photo. That's a foxcub that I got to like and christened "Foxbolter". After a while it turned into a big pain in the ass so I shot it.

Could that have been the skin/pelt of the wheaten neil and not the coat? Soft fluffy coats are horrid in my opinion they get balled up in muck in the morning and wet and they have to carry that with them all day If it's the hide itself then I couldn't think of a tougher hide than that on a proper bull type. It's the coat that keeps a dog warm. I agree about soft fluffy coats. Good for nothing IMO.

I've always prefered a good tight rough coat. The type that when you part it you struggle to see the skin. We rarely leave a terrier in a vehicle and sometimes IMO it's the terrier that's pegged out on a long dig that needs the good coat more than the terrier being dug too. Ever since I was young and during a blizzard seeing a bull terrier nearly freeze to death while a Wheaten that was pegged close by was very comfortable have I known what I think is the best coat for a working terrier.

Jay Call Birds For Offer.
neil cooney replied to fireman's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Maybe where you live in Ireland Neil, but there are a lot round here We have them but not to the point where they're a nuisance. The last few years the Jay has spread massively in Ireland. -
I've seen a few articles and photos of that man and I've seen him called John Gaunt and John Weldon but I presume it's the first one as it seems the most common. I once read that he said that when the foxes were catching rats they wouldn't drop them and could catch a rat with two already in their mouth.

Sorry for butting in lads, but Jays are rare in Ireland and I've never heard of anyone using one as a call bird. Will the Jay bring in other species , like a magpie will attract grey crows and will the jay come into a different species of call bird ? Just curious. -

Great White Egret---Little Egret
neil cooney replied to CRAZYHORSE's topic in Wildlife and General Photography
Good pictures there. I remember the first Little Egret we had around here one of the local cowboys informed me he was going to shoot the albino Heron and have it stuffed. He was also the worst taxidermist in Ireland. I had already seen the Egret. I told him if he brought an albino Heron to me I'd give him 1000 euro. Called me a know it all f****r then when I told him the truth, me, a know it all !!!!! LOL. We have several Egrets around here now and I've seen them catching small fish regularly. Lovely birds, we don't have the Greater Egret ........yet. -
Well done MIK.
-
They probably would be. We usually put out 50 or 60 every Spring hoping that some will breed and supplement the birds that are there already and what we'll be releasing in the Autumn.
-
Good post and job well done, but, had you permission to come to Ireland, LOL.
