It was pure lifestyle in my case mate....genetically im bang on the ol fella was a good athlete,no history of heart problems in the family etc.....my life was somewhat chaotic from an early age and always involved strength be it fighting,a short time i spent powerlifting, then onto bodybuilding and of course all the added extras that reaching your fullest potential in that involves......i was always scrupulous in liver/kidney function/blood counts etc for years and years but this whole long term blood pressure thing kind of crept up on me in an area i wasnt watching for. How about you mate

Another that sticks in my mind from that year Tomo was the 400m final......i loved the 400 as it was a killer of an event and the big favourite Butch Reynolds got pipped on the line by something like 0.05 of a second.....the Russian triple jumper Markov did a massive 17.61m jump Lewis did his famous 8.72m......funny how numbers stick in your mind !
-
Wow fair do's that impressive memory....Johnsons winning time of 9.79 and Lewis 9.92 sticks out in my mind but wouldnt know the womens winners etc.

Probably the most famous race in Olympic history ive been told stories about that race many times over the years the main one being that all 8 competitors tested positive but the organisers knew it would be far too much scandal to declare they all failed so decided one had to carry the can....just make sure he,s not American ! I always felt a bit for Ben Johnson, dont think he was the brightest of fella's and seemed to be the chosen scapegoat.
-
For me the Olympics was always all about Athletics.....if i put my nut to it i could probably tell you who won the 1988/92/96 etc Olympic 100m gold and what time they ran but i wouldnt have the foggiest idea who won the archery, trampolining or any number of other nondescript stupid events....and that probably go's for a lot of sports fans like myself......even the boxing i cant honestly remember that much,as someone else said the Olympics should be the pinnacle of your sport and in athletics it is.....but as for most of the rest i can take it or leave it.

Im more of a Bisoprolol,Ramipril,Ranexa,Monomil,Aspirin,Statin man myself like ? What a game eh !....my life used to be full of extreme highs and lows now its reduced down to mundane mediums....how nature puts you in your place !
-
Thats what the Aspirin is for mate ?....if you had an actual heart attack you must be on a fair bit of medication for life anyway, Monomil,Statins and the like ? Second wind thats another good description yes.

Ive had this argument for years mate and i always come unstuck when i try to book Darts and Snooker as sports ? so f**k it who am i to say whether somethings a sport or not....but yes id book Gymnastics a sport,i just cant justify why ? Its probably just what we become uccustomed to and familiar with over the years really isnt it.

That grey/sickly feeling is anxiety where your body is trying to deal with the pain/fear etc i used to have to sit perfectly still and really concentrate on just absorbing the pain i described it as like you have swallowed an apple whole the pain would take a good 10 minutes to pass.....ventricular hypertrophy by itself isnt too terrible a lot of fit strong athletes will have it and not even know the heart is a muscle after all and becomes bigger like any other muscle if consistently worked hard.....but mine was the consequences of years of constant high blood pressure through extreme strength

Thanks for that mate we was right near to Simonside Hills, lovely walk that was all that mauve heather stuff was in full bloom some really nice views along there.....Rothbury seemed like a nice little market town...then had a row with the ol woman in that Labyrinth thing at Cragside thought we was gonna need a rescue helicopter at one point what a nightmare ?.....apart from that had a nice pleasant peaceful time, nice area.....certainly beats York !....wouldnt go there again. Anyway off to the Lake District end of the week Wilf reckons its good there ? -
Im fiercely competitive at tiddlywinks.....but its still not a sport ?

Back in 2014 i was getting pains that i put down to indigestion but turned out i had a 56% blockage of a main artery....which isnt too high some people dont catch it till its 90%+..... but had it stented anyway and it meant a slight lifestyle change and lifetime of medication but small price to pay for the shit i put my body through over the years....how about yourself mate what is/was your situation, did i read earlier you're a young guy 30's or something ?....seems young to be having these type of issues.
-
Thats all you want mate....anything more then you know as well as i do its " right tools for the job "... Somethings just dawned on me i'll drop you a pm.
-
Really looking forward to that fight i think if Pacquiao can somehow manage to pull it off it has to place him up there in the top 4 or 5 all time greats for me.
-
Its not a sport though mate is it,dont get me wrong its not the only one theres too many " recreational activities " being turned into competitive sports for some reason....and they're just not competitive.
-
Its very very technical Sid its no good turning up with brute strength and aggression alone its one of the things i really love about the sport its direct physical and mental confrontation one on one but it can be a great leveller in terms of respecting an opponents thought processes as well as their physical tools.....long levers will always give you more options when it comes to outside arm wrestling, top roll etc compared to a short thick arm thats likely to be limited to a hook. Its always easy to over complicate things with folk who just have a passing interest in the sport so a great

" Success " in arm wrestling on a world level is probably gauged by whether you pull in the World Armwrestling League ( which is American ).....and off the top of my head i can only think of Tom Holland in the lightweight division who is from Slough thats currently pulling at that level....but of course the Uk had Neil Pickup who competed at world level,Ted Wilson and of course my old pal Rod Lenette RIP who introduced me to the sport years ago.....its just a really big jump to go from Uk club level to world level and obviously sponsorship/finances for these lads becomes an issue.

I just dont think he has the hand to trouble John or the options to go anywhere John doesnt let him go he struggles in the rising wrist position and thats not an area you want to be weak in against probably the best hand and wrist in the history of the sport....Todd Hutchings is all about side pressure and Shaws biggest wins have come against Jordan Sill and Mike Ayello who both have great side pressure....Brzenks only weakness if you can call it that is he often gets bossed in the set up.....if he is aggressive setting up and gets his position early he,ll open up Shaws hand and top roll throu

No you dont normally train legs mate.....it go's by weight divisions so like a boxer you want to be competing at your strongest but lightest weight so a huge pair of thighs serves no purpose whatsoever....if you look at the frames of a lot of the worlds best pullers they will have big upper body development and relative light in the legs good examples would be guys like Matt Mask or Rob Vigeant Jnr......you want a strong core yes but legs dont really play much of a part. No we're way behind....countries like Canada and North America its a big deal....also many of the Scandinavian and East

Thats a nicely kept Stafford i was never really sold on the whole " Irish Stafford " thing i think theres Kc stuff out there probably just as good i looked into a few of those old Rapparee/Sparpit type lines seems theres still some decent stuff around.
-
I think theres about as much interest in this " fight " as there is another Fury/Wilder fight....puts me in mind of Giant Haystacks v Big Daddy for f**k sake !
-
I did for a number of years mate but eventually the level i competed at was dictated by a recurring injury,if i could of got into it at a much earlier age i think id of done well.....these days i coach/train a few people as i really enjoy the tactical mechanics to the sport which i think i have a decent understanding of.....we was one of the first gyms down south to put in arm wrestling tables, now its a growing sport i dont think it will be long before we see it at the Olympics even just as a demonstration sport at first.
