  1. last two weeks had does with young in them around newark area atb.
  2. Nothing worse than watching your dog go down with skin trouble. Firstly can i ask what colour the dog is if its a black one it could be deomadetic mange with it being a bull type also is it the first time its happened as shes a good age for it to appear now. whats she bedded down on whats her diet at the moment all the cures mentioned may work but best to be sure as which one you need to try. If it is normal mange and not deomedtic then benzo is the way to go. If its deomedetic then washing in aludex and ivomec jabs will shift it but be carefull washing her in aludex as it dont suit bul
  3. We never let them pee or crap in the house in the first place we keep a door slightly open and spend at least the first 24 hours with the new pup. Let him out after waking every meal etc once you let em then its hard work as now youve got to learn it its doing wrong pick it up first signs of it wanting to squatt and take it outside it gets easier to spot after a while lol and if your a tad late dont hit it or wipe its nose in it just chase it towards the door outside if you catch it in the act. I hate being in this situation when trying to get a good bond going with a pup sooner not go to b
  4. seen a few thats been over run especially dogs taken where theres more stuff than there used to running, OK if there unfit but if its a pretty fit dog thats having a wobble especially a fast type then with the same amount of graft it more than likely will happen again fingers crossed it will be ok but as has been said keep your eye on the dog when its grafting atb.
  5. Litter looks spot on to me wouldnt bother me what the parents have done as its what the new owners gonna do that really matters they are deffo worth the price and one or two of them look like they are gonna have a decent coat for first crosses look at the first pup pic. Atb with the litter Emeera and if that first pup come out feathered it wouldnt suprise me as the sires got a lot of feather on him that should make a good talking point laters atb...J
  6. Ive heard that statment a lot welsman from guys thats tested dogs to the hilt be intersting to see what happens with the f1s that are being bred today and some reports on the litters of pures thats been bred these last few years. I know a couple of lads that tried the pures but gave up with them and got back into the saluki lurchers again.
  7. Top bloke that man is JD One things for sure the long coat was there at the beginning i was told the first litter eve had to rebel was all bucketed as they were so wooly . Be good to know how the Rocket was bred and dudleys bitch that was the start of the eve line i guess we will never know the full breeding proper atb.
  8. Going back some years rufford and grove released a good few black foxes not melanistic but from some european country.
  9. Trevor thats a blast from the past old lou bred a lot of f1s out of trevor but the lurchers put to him did better.
  10. Dont know what ground your hunting on Jigsaw but with the wet weather and the winds a lot of hares are sitting in the sheltered bits not out in the fields as there sodden at the moment. Copses and thick hedges out of the wind thats where you will find them sat once you get used to finding them sort of places you will find your hares mate
  11. First thing that was said more or less was it was two dogs on a hare that statment says it all imo One dog one hare thats lived all its life free a quick chase and the dog has him hes killed quickly and retrieved to hand thats if the dog has caught him they dont cath them all. Then youve got the farmer on the programme with the sheep what do they go through before they are on the shelves pierced ears injections moving about waiting at the abbatoir i know which is less cruel and its not the dog running the hare.
  12. Thers only two worth bothering with this time of year Bluestalks and oyster mushroooms blues are making a fiver a pound in the shops atb.
  13. I agree some get a bit keen on the hunt they dont see to well well mine dont at least so she could be striking at movement being new to the game. Try to make sure you go to pick her up by the neck so she cant turn round on you not hard just firm enough to grip her. You say she gets worse as she does more warrens if youve got more ferts try her on one then box her up for a bit then do two etc just take it slow with her sounds like she will be a cracker if you can sort her out atb.
  14. Sorry for your loss mate its a shame they dont live as long as us Ive never noticed a difference with the dogs kept in or out mind i would think if your a heavy smoker it cant be good for them atb.
  15. No bucks get eaten at ours either only does and then only if the skin comes off easy mind some areas the rabbits can differ from what theyve been eating i tend to keep the rabbits off of grassland for the table.
  16. Just had a look on google and found this Interestingly, the hunters have now floated the idea that while they might bring back fox hunting for sport, they would maintain the ban on hare coursing. Hare coursing so clearly lacks any of the so-called pest control arguments they like to use with other quarry like deer and foxes, that they are already contemplating whether to accept defeat and the loss of coursing as being a price that they would be prepared to pay to bring back live quarry hunting for sport. Quite what Clarissa Dickson Wright and the coursers will have to say about that strat
  17. Our lass saw it on an interview one of camerons underlings talking they were showing foxhounds at the time on the tv. I agree theres more important issues but as far as us hunters go if its not going to be completely overturned ie just the fox hunting side being repealed and the rest standing as it is then i reckon they will lose my vote. I thought someone on here might have seen the same thing id like to know for sure wouldnt suprise me though if they did
  18. Is this true ive heard that if the conservatives get in they will overturn the fox hunting ban but thats it hare coursing and other hunting with dogs will stay illegal.
  19. We usually stay out the whole day often finishing as its getting dark atb
  20. Like Whin i can remember the miners strike but more importantly to me i can remember a poor upbringing where the addition of a bit of game was more than welcome it was natural for us village lads to go through the whole hunting spectrum starting with cattys and sticks then the first dog gun etc. Ive been caught a load of times as i just get on and do it gave up knocking doors years ago. Most times the bobbys dont mind a bit of ferreting and id like a pound for every bit of permission ive got from doing roadside sets dont tell me i know they belong to the highways commision or whatever its ca
  21. Some dogs are hard on their first catch but as the night goes on and they catch more they get less mouthy with them. One old boy i know wraps barb wire round a bottle then puts the rabbit skin over it a bit extreme but he swears by it atb
  22. Surely amongst all the members on here we could come up with a simple locator set up a lot cheaper than what they sell for after all its only a transmitter and reciever somebody on here must know enough to knock something up thats just as effective for a lot less money ANY IDEAS LADS atb
  23. You cant educate them all How can you resist them little field sets thats on the estate you would never get permission to do in the day easy isnt it go at night and if your worried you might lose the fert get yourself a nightlight like they use in fishing attached to the ferts collar. Ive done a lot at night [not with a nightlight though] and never lost a fert wouldnt do big sets but fieldsets offer no problem atb
  24. Cheers for the replies lads I bet a lots done it gone out for the morning put in and out comes a few clean uns a set later and there mickied up what do you do go home? No move on to another spot maybe ten miles down the road ferts and dogs could be carrying myxy fleas that will be deposited round the new land. I dont think its unreasonable to believe it could help spread the disease about i know i shant be doing the above no more just incase As far as im aware its a close contact disease so how do isolated spots still get it i really do think its possible some of us may have ruined
  25. Just a thought how many of us wash the ferts after theyve been in burrows where theres mixy before moving to another area could we as ferreters be spreading the disease ourselves by the ferts carrying the fleas ?
