  1. Willow, i know you're refering to Lucky's litter. I pm'ed you and explained that i only published what was told on the interview. However, in this next volume the truth is explained in another interview, with regards where Lucky's litter was whelped/reared. I am only putting down other peoples opinions in this series......
  2. I was refering to snaring foxes, not hunting. Sorry if i was unclear.
  3. Another leghold from the tiny collection....... this is rubber coated and hold the animal with the minimum of discomfort. Why are these not being trialed in the UK as an alternative to snaring? They would (possibly) be more effective and the animal will always be alive, only held by two rubber pads. I truly think the bodies that are working on our side should be actively trying to get new traps legalised, and even if they fail it is still a bargaining buffer-zone for keeping the status quo.
  4. The thing is, I had a think on how to approach the PFC series and thought the interviews were the best way. Otherwise it would be a bit difficult. The way they are is the way the person answers, so none of it is lost in translation, and i've tried to ask questions that, i hope, would be relevant. You can't please everyone, but i thought it was the best way and, the more experience i get the better the coursing series will become.Hopefully. I'm trying to get everyones stories down as soon as I can as some of the old boys are sadly no longer with us.If anyone does have suggestions on improvement
  5. I bought it from the USA. Them boys know how to make traps!!
  6. Just thought i'd post a pic of a trap from my collection. It's a bit rusty, but what a beast of a thing. Very, very strong and well made. This is a dogless trap. Enjoy...JD
  7. It's a fair point Matt, but wouldn't you rather have a more humane trap regardless of where it was made? Say, for example, it was made in the USA, would that make any difference? The true Fenn could be made so much better by stronger springs, but they are obviously not bothered. Another angle is: why buy from a trap manufacterer that 'isn't bothered'? Just playing Devil's Advocate...
  8. The camera setting you want is Manual. Forget all the other settings.
  9. I would be trying to feed that fox something dosed with a mange killer....hate to see foxes with mange, terrible way to die.
  10. I do things opposite to this. I don't want squatters. A pup simply cannot see them, they don't always see them when they jump either. Squatters only get the pup confused and the owner angry. I like to find a place that is well walled or fenced and there's rabbits sat up moving about. That way the pup will actually spot the rabbit moving down the beam. Soon the penny will drop. We all have our own methods but if you lamp a bunny squatting far out then you will have to walk to it and when it finally jumps, and if the pup sees it, then you will be illuminating the rabbits route home. I like to t
  11. I've tried a few brands, but stick with Bushnell. They cost a bit more but quality only hurts once. Unlike some other models the bushnell seems to be easy to attach and easy to work. I've had many hours of footage on mine, really good for finding out whats what.
  12. And mk6's on occasion are not the best in my opinion. The solway ones are far superior to the other two brands IMO.
  13. yes, they are not only inadequate, but illegal for use on rabbit.
  14. At those prices make no wonder the smaller firms are taking work from under their noses.
  15. Hi, once the cat has stopped eating he will start doing laps of his cage. A good way to get him to pupate is to line the bottom of the cage with 2 inch of ash leaves, simply pull them off the branch. Once he has vanished from sight give him a week, then carefully have a look for him. He will be in a cocoon he has made for himself. He should look all dark brown and shiney. This is now his pupa, so handle him with care. There are many ways to over winter the privet HM, the best is probably put him in a garage, or somewhere cool. There's no way he will hatch this year, but next april bring him ins

    God

    Pretty accurate....
  17. You are incorrect, what about the New Forest Burnett, the Large Blue butterfly, Essex Emerald, Swallowtail, Violet Click Beetle,Southern Damselfly and many many more that I cannot list. As an aside , you are correct about the Stag beetle, but they are only legally protected partially. You may not offer them for sale, that is their only protection. You can go out and harvest as many stags as you like without breaking the law as long as you do not offer them for sale.
  18. don't look like a cub to me...
  19. He doesn't need to go out to see 'other dogs working'. IMO take them out on their own, i prefer 11 or 12 months old. It all depends on what you want, we all have our own ways. I just like to start the dog on his own without any other influence.
  20. Why post that your'e importing these traps ? All that will happen is that WCS will insist that the few places that stock the two products will not send to UK, as WCS do themselves. In the USA the tube trap is about $30-35, but as it stands it is illegal to use in the UK, due to lack of kill bars. It's always best to keep things close to your chest than to upset the applecart, so to speak....
