  1. Last year a group of travellers stayed on a local bit of wasteground next to my local woods that i love so much. The next morning they had gone, but they'd left plenty behind. Used nappies scattered about as well as litter strewn all over. shame.
  2. Rusa I salute you. Rusa.....never even heard of them....we live and learn. Rusa come from aisa, never heard of them being wild in this country, maybe they escaped from captivity. Would like to know more. It wasn't wild matey.....
  3. SIKA john piere david deer are or used to be found in parks or zoo's. They come from france I think. They had big long heads. Sika come from Japan, can be mistaken for fallow in summer by the spots. black stripe on tail. Hi, yes i am aware of the differences. Actually PD's come from China. The Imperial hunting parks were the only places they could be found. trouble being that rulers and society changes and soon they were long gone in their homeland. Without old Pere David they would all be just another statistic. Respect to that man!!
  4. Nope.....Its not a hybrid...thats a clue.
  5. I bumped into one of these the other day.....Anyone care to have a guess??
  6. Ah....Sorry Tomo old chap. I got the wrong end of the stick. As far as i am aware theres only the six species of deer that are breeding in this country in the wild. Reindeer in the cairngorms are feral. There has been a few escapee's over the years and also deliberate releases but only really the six species as far as i am aware, out of those six only two are indigenous i believe.
  7. Keep us informed mate when you trace which seal is leaking.
  8. wallabys..... prairie dogs. ( I don't think that the pere D's are breeding in the wild....) But i will stand corrected
  9. Great read Jigsaw, those nannies will be ready to drop any day now i should think, I remember once we were high on some coastal cliffs with brown braken above us and deep blue sea below. Out on those granite slopes stood a number of goats, all going about there daily business even though they were on a near vertical cliff with 100 foot drop below. Above on the turf fields i spotted a white shape which i first thought was a discarded carrier bag or some such other litter, but upon moving a spray of gorse i could see a pair of persil-white twins sat motionless. I kind of admired their optimism
  10. Yes in the pictures and wild. Many have escaped throughout the years, and some have been captured again. There is no exact figure acording to the duke when I last spoke to him. Deer from other countires have escaped too and are in this area, It's just spotting them. Have some of the PD's managed a break out Artic? Never seen one in the wild before. Good pics.
  11. Ian, the HWmk1 is renowned for this fault. Thats why i sold mine. Never coud quite get to the bottom of it and i must say i was shocked that such a quality gun house such as HW would have released guns with such a fault. I can remember when they first came out there was quite a few of us with the same problem. Best way to solve it is to sell it IMO. Nive gun though, and the best mag system i have ever used.....
  12. Artic, Nice Woburn pics..... Any idea what the second pic down is.....?
  13. THATS TRUE POACHER. IVE KNOWN MEN THAT WHEN THEY HAD A TASTE OF MATCHING THEIR DOGS,EVEN WITH SUCCESS NEVER DONE IT AGAIN. MATCHING COULD TURN A FRIEND AGAINST FRIEND OVER MONEY OR REPUTATION. ALSO THE SLIPS OR QUALITY OF THE HARE COULD COME IN TO QUESTION. TAKE ANY 3 PEOPLE THAT WATCHED A DOG COURSE A HARE & THE 3 PEOPLE CAN EASILY HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS ON HOW THE CHASE PLAYED OUT, THATS JUST HUMAN NATURE WITHOUT TAKING THE PEOPLE THAT JUST WANT 2 CRAB OTHER PEOPLES DOGS IN TO ACCOUNT. THE "old Meg would have caught that hare" TYPE OF MENTALITY., SO EASY 2 LOSE SIGHT OF THE ENJOYMENT &
  14. Great thread fellas, keep the info coming....
  15. Bolio, Colin's banned from crumpets for breakfast, his hands get mighty slippery with all the butter! ha ha

  16. I have never heard of that!! Why not give him a few rabbits instead? Or squirrels?
  17. Had an hour out today with the HW77 that i have been trying to customise. Im not happy with the blueing we have done, and i will be going over it all again with more coats as it has started to go a little brown and looks poor, to be perfectly honest. Today was the first trip out with the gun with new stock and safety catch and she felt good. Firstly a jay made a big mistake and landed within 15 yards of where i was stood watching out for a rogue squirrel that beats me every time. Well, he beat me again, but i dropped the jay. Ten minutes later and a group of three squirrels are seen chasing ea
  18. Me and the Fat Whippet are on our way... I've never been to Cornwall,.... I'm surprised theres any rabbits left in the 'Bricks' county....

    knives

Maybe the law would rather a knife be dumped so that a minor can pick it up and commit real crime with it? . Is it me or is Great Britain going crazy to prosecute anyone for anything?
  20. Just because mine comes back!!!... Messer!

  21. We had doctors and nurses long before multiculturalism ......i ask again, what do we the Englishman in England get out of multiculturalism ? Gnasher, we get NOTHING! And no one asked me, as a tax payer that has worked all my life, if i wanted the uk to become a multicultural society. Just who's idea was it anyway???
