  1. If they have ran all six species in numbers and took bucks/stags in all six the above MAYBE true. Other than that I wouldnt say a person is more qualified just because they have took all six, it maybe the case thay have only run a few doe's of a certain species and not took a buck/stag in that species when at there best. Well SBBR you do have a point, but maybe the criteria should read attempted to take the mature males of those species.....Its just that some crazy, big antlered critters can't be taken with a single dog, .......again, JMHO....JD
  2. Does anyone know where to get the metal of a gun anodized and if so how much. Cheers JD
  3. Why not use paypal for ALL transactions, even if you are trading a gun. DO NOT use paypal 'gift' option. Lots of con artists out there guys, just remain aware and try to deal with genuine good guys. Hope everything works out for you....JD
  4. And i bet there aint too many of them....... I think a better opinion is formed also when the same dog has been used on all six species. Kinda helps to evaluate the pro's and con's of each species . In the daytime i might add.....You can only really tell how a deer runs in the daytime. JMHO...JD
  5. thanks my mate. the police are going on to a certain site today looking f or them .we have a lot more intelligence on our dogs than what the thieves give us credit for Good Luck Brookie. Chances are that the thieves will have been to your house before. Let us hope the culprits are found and can be named and shamed.

  7. Moll....dry grass and moss...they are rather partial to deer fur to line the nest with...
  8. Yes matey Just on with it now...31,000+ words so far and its coming along
  9. Yes, though they are not worded as 'game', but you will be charged with game offences and previously needed a game license. So, in reality, yes mate....
  10. Hi, I do not think it can be theft if the rabbits are wild and alive. This is due to 'wild' quarry not belonging to any person if it is free to travel at its own will. However, once dead the 'game' can be taken by theft as it also can if it is enclosed. This is why 'park' deer cannot be poached, their taking is classed as theft. Poaching is :the unlawfultaking or killing of game...... Theft is: the dishonest taking of property belonging to another. So, in summary it is not possible to thieve game, only poach it. This is how I understand the law to be. But I've been wrong befor
  11. What country are you in matey? uk Hi Darklord. If these Reindeer are the ones in Cornwall then they are not really wild, more like 'tame' deer that have some liberty. Sure, they have access to open ground, but I understand they are artificially fed and bedded. And i am willing to bet that they are 'enclosed' in so much as they could not up sticks and walk away like a 'wild' mammal can. Ergo, they aint wild. Its a bit like me letting go a couple of Rhino's on my friends farm. They would be at liberty, but they wouldnt be wild..... I look forward to your reply as i do ta

  13. Rabbits are not classed as game. Not in the day time or at night. However: The game act 1831 does state that no one should enter upon land without consent in pursuit of game, woodcock, rabbits and snipe. The Night Poaching Act 1828 states the same, but punishment is a little more stronger, and allows gamekeepers to arrest. The deer act 1991 will punish you even more if you have killed a beast out of it's season. There are exemptions in place for this. These are all lengthy and very old acts which have been amended........slighty. Exactly. Rabbits legally take
  14. Hi Mate, those deer won't be wild i shouldnt think. There are lots of various 'exotics' in the UK that you can shoot, but in the main they are all enclosed. But i will stand corrected.
  15. God knows. The copper said it is the same as going into his house and takin his money. Because for all we know he could be shooting and selling the game his self. Summet like that anyways. But he also said rabbit is classed qas edible game. Ergo its classed as trespass in persuit off ground game going equipt for theft-of ground game. And if you do catch then theft of ground game. Stupid coppers like. They just told us to go home lol Hi Sandstorm, I believe rabbits are only classed as game if they are taken illegally. Legally taken rabbits could be taken by persons without a game license
  16. Hi HairyBush, Believe it or not once upon a time Reindeer were introduced to England from Lapland, but they never thrived. What many of us fail to realise is that Reindeer (caribou) were indigenous to our Isles quite recently. They, of course, died out, but man has introduced them again on several occasions in the past couple of centuries. None of these prospered and it wasn't until 1952 , when The Reindeer Council of the United Kingdom was formed that any progress was made. From Sweden a number of these deer journeyed and they have remained on the Cairngorms ever since. Sadly when i visited
  17. RFYL, I think Artic and me are being very civil, not bickering, just a bit of harmless difference of opinion. Artic, just spent twenty minutes on the old 'dog and bone' with my mate. We had a good laugh. happy Hunting...JD
  18. Martin, Moderators are for people who can't shoot foxes..... I bloody hate those mods, totally spoils the feel of the gun IMO..... And, leave my hat out of this. That's bullying you know......
  19. Just for the record, my 100 was brand new when it had this fault, as were other peoples at the time when they got the mk1
  20. Well Artic, There must be crossed wires as I was told straight out of the horses mouth. So to speak. Still, life's a learning curve and I guess we never stop learning. There are only three deer keepers within the Abbey and it's news to them. I've just spoken to one to check my facts and you've learnt them something new then, .....Cheers I love deer threads, what fascinating beasts they are.... Happy hunting to all.JD
  21. A stalk was tried after a sneaky muntjac. Into a small bramble patch the porcine shape vanished. Then suddenly from behind the brambles broke a pair of fallow. They pronked down the field and the old method of a few whistles stopped them. Curiosity, it seems, kills more than just cats. At ninety yards the bullet thumped home and the doe staggered ten yards into the stream. Happy Stalking chaps.
  22. Yes in the pictures and wild. Many have escaped throughout the years, and some have been captured again. There is no exact figure acording to the duke when I last spoke to him. Deer from other countires have escaped too and are in this area, It's just spotting them. Have some of the PD's managed a break out Artic? Never seen one in the wild before. Good pics. Yes JD, and in July 2010 I saw three in different locations at different times all within 4 miles of the Abbey. As for breeding, I cannot answer that. Who knows........... Are you sure they were PD'
