  1. Ive seen some late starters turn good after a time, and most people I know are usually willing to wait, but the best dogs I know of are the ones that take to work straight away, usually needing holding back, rather than gently easing into it.
  2. Mate, your dog will be a super athlete, if you feed it well, flesh and bone with fats and offal too, is the very best natural diet for any breed of dog. Excersize LOTS, and at 20 months I would have long entered my dogs and be working them regularly, but entering a young dog is down to personal preference, and you know your dog best. If he has good breeding behind him, dont worry about his abilities as long as you have done your part in rearing it to the highest standard. Look into BARF diets, thats the best thing anyone can change for their workers. Dogs do better on flesh, bone, fats, offal
  3. tell ya what whin, there are some real muppets involved with dogs nowadays. I hardly come on this site any more, and to see this thread feckin hell this countrys genuine lads are screwed if these are the sort of miss guided halfwits that are running round the countryside with dogs.
  4. Thats nice to know, I hope they do well. ..... Again, cracking pictures, its been good viewing
  5. Was that bog boomer, in N'land mate? Never seen or heard one before, but Id like to. Great shots!
  6. Been informed by RSNE there is no money available? They have dropped off a few traps but that is all. Whereabouts are you trapping in Northumberland, do you get subsidised to do it. Depends on circumstances,,, Do you trap within the buffer zones? If so PM me and I'll sort out some help for you.
  7. Im trapping greys up in Northumberland, but its hard to keep up with the numbers. Still plenty reds here at present, so were keeping them at bay for now. More funding is coming through in the spring, with more trappers enroled. If anyone has woodland within the red squirrel reserve areas then funding could be available to cull the greys. The more help with this the better, as it only takes a few neglected patches to allow the greys entry into the red squirrel zones. You could drop me a PM for help and info if your unsure about getting started. Regards DnN
  8. hahaha the f*****g flying carpet... excellent... the commentry cracks me up... good vid by good lads
  9. SO, what are your views on when to start a young lurcher? Obviously lets talk about pre ban dogs. Do you wait for it to reach a certain age, or do you let it go if it want to? Mine pictured, started on rats a few weeks before this pic was taken.
  10. You want find em in the Tweed on that stretch you were at and hope it stays that way. Deffo in the upper Ettrick they got out some years ago from gamescleugh, not sure how far down the valley they are
  11. Same old story with this site isnt it.... Decent, genuine folk get pissed off and basically fed up with all the shite thats spouted on here every day by the know it all fuckwits theres only so much you can say before saying feck it, why bother
  12. I have a Vauxhall combo van... excellent body condition, il get a picture up soon, 5 spoke vauxhall alloys, ply lined floor, 1700 tdi. 2005 The engine has issues, oil has got into the water system somehow... it will still start up, all other aspects are fine. Im no mechanic, and as Im living away from home now with another vehicle, Id rather let someone else get a cheap van, and sort it themselves. I dont know if it will need a new engine, but if so they also take corsa engines of similar aged vehicles. A garage looked at it, and its not the head gasket, or the cooler. Their not sure. Ple
  13. bye heck moley ne wonder theres no silvers about! haha thats a great haul of coloured mowdies mate, and I guess silvers arent as rare as I first thought
  14. Nice catch, I have also caught a silver mole, its still in my freezer, but apart from your mates ive never heard about any other silver moles, must be a very rare colour. As well as the silver Ive had 2 pure albino and one ginger. damn I should play the lottery more
  15. I love the disbelif as some struggle to imagine a dog capable of killin a bunch of foxes in a short time ffs
  16. Yeah, I totally agree with your comments mate... Ive got (and had) different crosses, and bull cross of the right sort are great vermin killers on all land. A good one will be hard to beat with most other sorts of running dog. There are always those who slate them, saying things like they are untrustworthy around stock and other dogs, they cant run, have no wind/stamina, and like you mentioned brain dead. but as you know yourself, its all down to obtaining the well bred stock (seeing is believing and all that), the good ones are good, and some lines and strains are producing excellent lurchers
  17. I also have a soft spot for my home ground, and especially, the cheviot hills, and tynedale in northumberland, I miss the area when im away from it for any length of time haha.... The hguge expanses of fells and forestry, lots of walking and lots of wildlife... its great. I have also spent years in Invernesshire, and Ross/cromerty hunting deer, and Il always have a liking for the highlands. Wales is also a place that has good hunting memories, foxing with the terriers, and following hounds... Ive also lived in the lake district, and followed the hill packs there, those hills have a character o
  18. At least it didnt break its leg, muscle can be very good at repairing itself so fringers crossed. My dog Bud broke, smashed a leg (and dislocated) in a bad way last year, he will never be the same again, but ive kept him for his limited use and his bloodline as my stud dog for the future, its just one of those things mate, you never know when a bad accident will happen. I hope your dog makes a swift and full recovery. DnN
  19. Like. Ive got some other boar hunting vids on my profile (bloom brothers)
  20. A friend of mine had a bull/wolfhound/grey, it was an impressive dog that earned his keep.
