  1. Theres still plenty hunting for a young lurcher through the summer. Grey squirrel shooting for instance, gets them used to the gun as well as marking and obedience. Mink hunting with gun and terrier, its nice to be by the water on those hot days.
  2. I need an extra pair of hands for the summer from May until around September, mainly pine weevil control. So it would be great but not essential to have your knapsack spraying certificates PA1, PA6. And also must have an up-to-date First Aid at work certificate prior to starting... I can get you on a subsidized course if needed. Would work on a self employed basis, invoicing for the work done regularly. Pay is down to how much you do, but somewhere around £60 - £120 per day is expected. Would prefer someone with their own vehicle. Cheap accommodation near site, self catering hotel around £50
  3. Nice poem mate... and as for bringing pups on mexlad, why not wait till autumn unless your on a pest control job that has to be done. Pups wont learn the right way on soft cubs and easy young bunnies.
  4. OK I will post some details in the general section
  5. as many that fit comfortably, im guessing she is a small bird, doubt she would sit on more than 6, hoy a few under and see how she covers them.... 21 days later you will have results better than incubator
  6. Thing is the general section moves faster than a lurcher, a post can disappear pretty fast in there!!
  7. My brain hurts... nice read Ali, thought provoking stuff. About the pack splitting when a fresh fox is lifted, seen it many times, surely both scent trails being just as attractive..?. but would some foxes seem more attractive to them than others? Would certain individual hounds prefer to stay on the original fox or do hounds just follow their nose as best they can, taking the line that happens to lead them away from the other line, being stronger, or maybe just luck as to which scent particles hit their sensors first? As the pack follow the scent in a wide pattern it makes sense that as
  8. As the title says, I am looking for someone to work with me for the summer, which section, if any should I post it in? Dont think Ive ever seen a job vacancy on here before, maybe we could have a situations vacant section? Terrierman jobs, gamekeeping, etc etc Cheers DnN
  9. course you can, wont get too many under her though.
  10. tried to pm you, could do with some advice, cheers

  11. my grandad ran greyhounds on the easy land around darlo newton aycliffe, roe mainly, he did very well with them. I dont think one would last long with me on the hill, and I have no need for that ammount of reckless speed in a dog as my lurchers catch well enough for me on very unforgiving land
  12. In my opinion you get more work from a spaniel, but have to put a bit more into them. Labs are pure gay pegdogs lol very rare to see one as good as a standard spaniel.
  13. no mate. i am not one who will own bull crosses ok, what sort of lurcher do you own then?
  14. Nice one, good to see birds bull cross shaping up nicely, is your pup a bull cross?
  15. bad crack. But id still try and keep good relations with the farmer and make sure he knows its not you to blame
