The pointer/labs are good working dogs, I cant see how a lurcher x will be any good though as they will be too slow for a lurcher, but also probably loose a lot of the pointing and gundog instincts too. Be a rough n ready hunting dog no doubt, your mates better off putting a good pointer/lab or GW pointer over her in my opinion.
Ive got a 1/4 deerhound (grey/saluki/collie) lurcher here, she is a pleasing young lurcher to own..... The first deerhound cross Ive had.... Well the first with a decent lump of it anyway
i got a good wee bitch, theres been a few times ive dug down to a bigger dog wedged in tight, lift it, put her in, and she gets straight on... should have put her in first would have saved the effort, shes just a bayer, but a stayer
Bring your dogs up among domestic stock of all types first, and you wont have any issues at all. Some f*****g armchair hunters on ere
I guess this is just the usual story - it's the school holidays and all the 'expert' teenagers' have put down their gameboys and come on here. I've run dogs on a daily basis for more than 35 years and don't need lessons or insults from a teeny tot. Wild goats in this country are just domestic goats gone feral - there's no real difference in appearance or scent or behaviour etc between feral goats and domestic goats. There's lots of small holdings wi
Some meat on that bugger!
Yeah the Adders are very common on the rough hill ground in my area, not much for people to worry about but quite bad news for dogs, two died on land near me in the last few years.
Nice Pictures Mate! Heres some of MY local reptiles.
Adder (our only poisonous snake)
Lizard (common Euro)
Have you ever eaten Goana? Ive heard you can live on em.... but they taste like shit!
Id go for the spaniel, as they are the tool for the job (close range flushing).... ive worked beagle blooded dogs but had them mainly for driving game out of woods/covers. Your right enough, a beagle will hunt away on a scent, thats what their bred for.... lots of cross breds about that could suit your needs, but in general (from my experience) the more hound thats in them, the further they will follow a line.
I like them, seen a few german pointer crosses, and ive had a lurcher with German Wire Haired Pointer in it.... HPR breeds are a good adition to a lurcher in my opinion. keep us posted.
They have nothing over a bull x and vise versa..There are good and bad in all types.A good dogs a good dog.
Im a fan of the strong type dogs.... but in my opinion a well bred bull cross has massive advantages over the mastiff crosses that ive seen run/work. Just what ive seen.
If im out lamping and putting the bunnies in my backpack, Il pop the guts out the arse end, as this leaves the rucksack nice and clean, no blood n other juices seeping all over the battery etc... but if im selling the rabbits I always make a neat cut to extract the puds', coz often when popping the guts go down the leg skin, this can taint the colour of the membranes even if the guts havnt bust making it off putting to customers.
