  1. Even the black and yellow ones are crap, and the owners are lazy faggots 'chocolate' for fecks sake Ive even heard a young lad the other day, sayin he wants a chocolate patterdale, I asked why only a brown one? He says they look nice, and must be better as they cost 100 quid more
  2. I used to run terrier/spaniel. Also terrier/spanial/beagle to flush fox, rabbit and deer from all cover. Great at the job, and if I need such dogs in the future I will go down the same road no questions.
  3. How the h3ll do you do this? I asked the woodland 'funding scheme' to plant 32 acre of hard wood & local wood, they quoted me, & said i had to foot the bill, with half my money returned in 5 years the rest in 10 !! If i maintained & weeded the crops......... yeh right. They led me to beleive they wanted land to grow trees etc...scammin &^%%"!!'s & they wanted the say where what was goin ....on my property woodlandtrust.org.uk = jokers Nightmare mate! Lucky for me the landowners or foresters sort out the grants, I just do the donkey work!
  4. Seen staffs in the field, good bushing/hunting dogs, and with terrierwork. Never seen a working yorkie lol but D.H had a border/chihuahua that grafted so never say never
  5. Theres tons of lads in the north east with good terriers. good luck finding a decent pup.
  6. Im currently planting 30 hectares of native woodlands, over ,000 trees. Species including birches, oak, ash, hazel, alder, willow, scots pine, rowan, juniper, aspen. I have also been fencing off huge areas to protect against deer damage. Ive always worked with the environment, trying to improve diversity. Too many deer are a major cause of habitat degradation in my work areas, stalkers culled hard over the last 20 years, and we have less sheep on the hills, we can see the improvements coming with better growth of heathers and blaeberry, and naturally regenerating trees. I think more folk with
  7. names mean jack shit, your more likely to find rubish if the breeder is bangin on about names. just look for lads that graft their dogs hard, and go from there, safest bet for a good pup
  8. Hell thats a coincidence, didnt see this thread till now, I just started a topic about working teckels. Nice one valero.
  9. Yeah Im the same, just got ducks at the mo, but I always put it all on the veggie plots. I also put it in the composters in the summer!
  10. THE SNIPES DOING FINE, I HOPE TO GIVE HIM A GOOD NITE ON THE LAMP,HES NOT GETTING LEFT OUT,,BUT THE PUPS 1ST SEASON, NEEDED HEAVEY WORK,,,HES DOSE A GOOD 3 /4 MILE RUN EVERY OTHER DAY WITH THE PUP,,SHOWS NO SIGN OF TIREDNESS,, ITS JUST THE MATTER OF KEEPING HIS BODY YOUNG,,,SUMER HIS THE PROBLEM,,HOT WEATHER,,, THATS WHEN HE MITE GO DOWN HILL A BIT,, Good stuff j, well the ol' boys been a provider for you. Good too see he's still getting out and about.
  11. I see teckels growing in popularity, mainly being used above ground, tracking and hunting. They are used a lot to ground in Europe, are there any who regularly dig to their teckels in the UK?
  12. Good shootin Rob... nice to see a pic of old snipe, hows he doing?
  13. Seen about a dozen pointer crosses, all were fox and rabbit dogs, some were also beating dogs. I like the half bred, but a couple of the 3/4 breds covered moor very easy being taller. My feeling is that any of the hunting gundogs make good lurcher ingredients, but out of the pointers the german wirehaired is the best type for the gamekeeper, foxer/allrounder
  14. Not much choise in my area, ive got some lowground but I spend the majority of my time hunting the fells. I love the space, to let the dogs find their own game, and sometimes see a good run or two.
  15. I like your post mate, and I agree totally. Greyhounds are mega keen sighthounds in their own right. There are few decent lurchers about that dont owe a great deal to the greyhound. But I find it a bit sad that they are no longer field worthy in their pure form.
  16. I find rats to be too cleaver in many situations when you just plop the trap down uncovered. I found two ways to quickly deal with rats problems in house lofts. Theres not always a food source, but they may be there for shelter etc, travelling nearby at night to a food source, at least thats what Ive found. First, should just take the setting then lifting, so less expense and time spared... I make a bait heap between two joists right on the insulation, use nuts, peanut butter, whatever as long as its not going to go bad soon. with a stanley blade cut out places to fit four set fenn traps a
  17. Bear grylls... f**k OFF, I'd rather take me granny!
  18. Ive seen a few dogs of hound/sighthound breeding, cracking in my area for covering the hill ground. They dont let much get away from them. But most Ive seen have had a dash of bull, not that it matters much. Im sure they will give ya loads of good hunting... Id like to hear how they get on Stuntman, all the best with them
  19. Thats a cracking picture! Pm received and replied
