  1. well said... I follow 4 different packs from time to time, but have also had a lot of excellent days out hunting with cross-bred hounds. They are not bred to be compared to pure hounds, as they are used in a different manner, which is better suited for certain venues. The way we should be going, is standing by fellow hunters, regardless of their choise of dog, not creating more bad feelings within the ranks? have a bountiful season
  2. All the best with them Dan.... how are the earlier litters shaping up? sorry if ive missed any updates of them, not getting online much recently.
  3. I could put that dog to better use! waste of fecking time
  4. Always the same mate, good thing is this could be here for some time, so resting them wont do too much harm! Im digging as fast as its lying mate haha... il be down as soon as possible, had a bit of action here, so down to G to keep us going. I will be in touch over the weekend All the best for the rest of the season bobo, we should maybe have a 'joint meet' at some stage, as long as roads are passable?

    snow

Got too much here now heading to 2 foot deep, and much deeper in the drifts, dangerous even on the bike on the hill, but were still getting the dogs plenty of action. Thats the main thing
  6. If the lurcher is in fit shape, both crosses should be able to work the fells all day hunting up, or put in a full nights lamping... no good to me if they couldnt do that, its all about good feeding, and keeping them in tip top fitness
  7. Was a good day out... looking forward to the rest of the weeks hunting
  8. Is now at open stud to all good bitches!

  9. Ive tried trenching in from the side a couple of times< but its a skill in its own right and not for me unless im very confident in certain situations. best from above in my opinion, try operating the locator on one level to give the best mark, rather than following the slope of the bank.
  10. The more time you spend reading through the endless trash on the lurcher section, you get to thinking that there are people on your level... on your wavelength so to speak... you can tell they seen the things you see day in day out through the seasons, they know the script. But then there are the 'others' and when it comes to explianing our case, it is recieved with either disbelief or disgust! Feck 'em! Happy hunting lads
  11. nice going blitz looks like the young'uns coming along a treat
  12. you know what I say... Feck 'em! Because their not going to effect our dogs, we keep em for the right reasons, to work. though I do feel sorry for the poor mites sold into non working homes, that should be illegal
  13. no you dont need a valid reason aslong as your on permision which is what Ive said at the beginning of my post, if you can read I agree with danman, get permision, which should be easy enough for trapping or air rifle, then kill the buggers. no 'valid reason' necesary (as stubby sugested)... they are a bloody invasive non native pest, and should be controlled at every opertunity. good luck. have fun. eat well.
  14. What about the folk that DO care about the working ability of their dogs etc etc etc but also breed them for coin working dogs should be bred for the right reasons, to create working dogs, for work. If that is the case, then all good in my opinion. ... just my opinions mate. Its crap to see dogs that should exist to do a job or jobs, end up in pet homes or even worse with people who think they are 'nice looking' and start breeding for looks n shit like that. Only a fecking peddler would sell a dog to scumbag homes, or pet homes. You see ads saying 'work, show or pet' ... f**k off, who
  15. i agree with everything you said in a working dog world ,but what do you think of people who breed an expensive type of dog as a cottage industry not bred everytime its in season ,but bred for money but housed ,loved and genrally looked after well in a methodical breeding program they keep the odd exemplary pup but sell the rest for a very good profit ... Non working dogs dont interest me at all, they are all bred for reasons that mean nothing to me, so Im not bothered what they do, as long as the dogs are kept well like you say.
  16. In my opinion, there are good and bad in the working dog world, the good ones breed from the best, for 1 reason only, to produce more quality working dogs to do certain jobs and carry on the line ... the other side of the coin, are the people who breed for £££ only, and dont care about the working qualities and sometimes even the husbandry of their dogs is neglected. :thumbdown
  17. if its that bad, then why dont they delete the pictures of all the foxes shot by rifle too, many of which are gut shots, and must give the anti's serious nightmares lol its bullshit
  18. Interesting cross, Ive heard of similar bred dogs used for big game tracking and holding, but mainly abroad... Im in Northumberland, and go out now and then with some good otterhounds that are part of a mink pack. Im sure you will find some closer to you, but if your stuck, drop me a PM.
