  1. Yes. Pre ban, I worked springer, cocker, and cross breds for flushing fox from cover. A Cocker of mine was lethal with toothed game, and loved popping stuff from holes. The cross breds are better for flushing fox, as they follow away on a line more naturally with the terrier and/or beagle blood, and also freely give tongue on a hot scent. They are easy dogs to enter to whatever hunting you do. Very eager to please, and mad keen.
  2. Not really aimed at anyone mate. Just my opinions. I run hill ground 90% of the time, so deerhoundy types are what do best. I only require working ability, nothing else.
  3. Gonna be mating my 1/4 bred to a full bred, but f**k going to someone that dont graft their dogs hard... their breeding off stuff, that isnt tested in the field, may wel be useless, with loads of defects, sod that. How can any working dog man say this is no better/worse than any other lines? I know one thing, and that is that regular work shows up any faults in the dogs, without work and working ancestry, they are non existant to me. (personal opinion)
  4. Every dog man these days needs a good vet that is on side, or at least non biased. Lots of lads getting grief about treating wounds. We all know that minor cuts like the odd bite, is easy tret at home by regular flushing, but there are loads of folk getting grief, and having to prove that veterinary advice or treatment was sought.
  5. Good posts liam, glad you have the patience for this site I gave up posting on terrierwork some time ago.
  6. Lived up there for 2 years as a stalking ghillie. Great area, people and wildlife.

I was going to get a teckel, but went instead for a GWP, which is doing great so far with her training.... never know I might still get a teckel at some point, wey at least they dont take

  10. If your not german I';d eat my hat! I like all the breeds you mention mate, Esp the hanoverian. Not had the joy of seeing many weimeraners, the odd one hunting birds but never on bigger game, where Id imagine them to be better suited. Would you like some bread with it? Shropshire born and bred mate, I did spend 20 years in Germany ( soldier, gamekeeper) and had the pleasure of running a teckel to ground and on the cold trail ( up to 100 hours old) and doing seminars with franz borngraeber ( very clued up as fair as all things wounded goes I must say, and an excellent breeder and train
  11. f****n hell, thats some disco Bolio, nice moves lads
  12. I personally wouldnt try my terriers for marmot... the average terrier would likely slay the lot of them to ground wasting the meat, in pretty much undiggable places. Now, Ive done lots of rock work for fox, but thats my sport, and was part of my employment, I dont mind spending a day or two of toil for a livestock killer, and for the terriers benefit, but not for a big feckin squirrel. I'd personally stick to taking the odd one on top, maybe try lamping them with a lurcher that can handle the terrain. Just my personal opinions/thoughts, but if you do try a terrier on them, please let us know
  13. .Mate, Id eat the arse out of a dead rhino if I was hungry, but those marmots are delicious! So Ive heard
  14. Yeah Ive come accross them loads of times. they dig earth holes as well as live among rock piles. Trying to creap up on them is easy enough but once scared they whistle loudly sending every fecker for miles under ground lol... nice wee things, especially with garlic and potatos (joking... or am I.... yeah, im joking.... maybe)
  15. All the dogs on this thread look tip top, credit to their owners

  17. Alright mate, are you gonna keep a pup or two?
  18. I got to say, Ive heard folk say this, and it always used to strike me as strange, as you would expect every litter from the same parents to be very similar. I can only assume that unless your breeding tight into a line, then the ammount of (even slight) variables will be huge, so no two litters would be the same. Surely if line breeding, the chances are there to achieve a solid stamp with roughly equal performance throughout each litter, but only if tight lines of top quality, hard to achieve? Very I'd say, with the ammount of litters a chap, would have to breed to get to that stage. as wel
  19. Get them to wrap it in gift wrapping.... no charges
  20. I would have torn your arm clean off mate, just what Im after... but I had a sibling to your bitch out of nell, which didnt work out, so sorry, cant take the risk.
  21. why not just get terriers? Haha, and I do keep a kennel of working terriers, but f**k, the year is long, and I all my dogs work as pest controllers as well as beating on the shoot days. Im not one to leave a whole load of dogs doing f**k all in the kennels, the spaniels were out with me hunting with hounds, shooting pigeons, digging foxes you name it, and they proved handy many many days, even if they just mark a stoat in a wall as your walking etc it all helps to a keeper. And dont know what sort of ratting you do, but for me, its the more dogs the merrier, if they kill rats quick and
