  2. ?????????? No the right to roam only applies in Scotland and last time I looked the Dales were in England. Actually Jonny...Loads of fell and hill ground in England has been made into whats called ACCESS LAND. On an ordnance survey pathfinder map it shows as orange shading. On this you can roam where you please, dogs must be on leads, and there may be temp restrictions through nesting times etc. I was keepering on 12000 acres, of which the hill ground above the improved grasslands, were opened up as access land, but thankfully being in the most remote area of England it didnt make a

But yeah its changed a hell of a lot, even since the 's
  7. 300 quid to know exactly where you hounds or dogs are is not scandalous at all. When most folk who go ferreting spend about £150 to locate their ferret.
  8. which do they love more the roll-ups or the pellets?
  9. thats the best price Ive seen Skycat. However the new ones DC40 have better range etc EDIT... ment to say the new recievers 320's have better range and features..... but you can get a range extender ariel for the 220 model which takes range out over 12 mile. AH its for the astro 220 reciever only... collars are about £140 on top

  11. You behaved as any sporting shots would, and if the keeper was upset with that then he was out of line, in my opinion.... Its down to the keeper to produce enough sporting birds... for teams with varying abilities too, as any commercial shoot keeper will know.
  12. Is it owned by a past member?( rfyl.) its a nice stamp of bull lurcher that.
  13. Like this one....We had a team up from London, who wanted a small driven day on partridge and wild pheasant, the team was made up of youngish businessmen etc. They were steaming pissed by 10 o clock, and were shooting at everything within 100 yards, even blackbirds etc! Then to top it off one of my reliable flankers was furious as the end gun swung through the flank twice! I did have talk with them.... told em to get to f**k of our land, there will be no more drives! What a waste of time! Glad Im not keepering on such a big commercial shoot anymore, you do get the odd day that beggers belief
  14. I reckon the cross would work, and with determination. But surely for thick cover you want to keep size down, a springer or cocker would probably out perform anything bigger. But Ive owned and seen some cracking terrier/spaniels, a bit different to a spaniel workwise, as they will follow a line further, but not miles, and may give tounge freely on hot scent. Id like to see one though, so keep us posted if you go down that road. Cheers
  15. Probs mainly the GWP x Labrador. A popular cross in the field. Ive never seen a spaniel/pointer but can only imagine they would be fecking workaholics that need a pretty good training plan.
  16. I'm with the lads who like a dog that will never show aggression towards any human, no matter what the scenario. I disagree with gnasher, he reckons this means your dominating the dog all the time, and it is a cowering wreck or something, this is so far from the truth, all it takes is adequate socializing as a pup, and never let the possessiveness over food or toys or anything else develop in the first place, as a whelp a dog wont behave in that way, it is all behavior that the dog develops as it gets older. I often sit the pup on my lap and feed it, or make a fuss when feeding, take bowl away
