  2. I have a terrano 2... Been all over europe in it, 40+ degrees Celsius no issues at all... its been very reliable, and tows like theres nothing there. Been over some rough as feck land with it too, just to scare the GF lol coped good, better than I ever expected I can pretty much guage my fuel by the estimated fuel price off google maps!! Try a route on Google maps and that is near exactly what it costs in my terrano. 2.7 turbo diesel ...if anything im slightly less!!
  3. I prefer on foot. But I cant cover 1000's of acres by foot, so depends on requirements. I may be in 4x4, quad or other ATV at times if doing pest control over big areas
  4. Seen a few wee terrier/whippets, nice wee things, not lacking grit. Keep us posted
  5. They are lovely knives. Welcome to the hunting life forum.
  6. I charge per mole. But only on agri contracts. Domestics etc are per job. easy
  7. Crays dont bother me, I would rather fish with lures and hoy in a crayfish trap while I fish the pike lol For pike, I dont rate many Northumbrian loughs highly, but I do have permision on one with huge fish pike and perch, but its a private nature reserve. Sweethope Loughs have pike and allow fishing all winter, they have a few around and above 20lbs, you wont blank there, but average fish are 2 - 9 lbs or there abouts. I have mates that fish Bolam lakes regularly for pike, but their not big fish usually. I hear Fontburn has a few aswell, but its a trout lake mainly so I dont know what
  8. A dedicated foxer.... good luck with her mate
  9. I was trying to iron out her faults, but mine went a step beyond and almost killed a good terrier bitch of mine. I saved the terrier only because I had stitches on me at the time as her neck was torn apart and she was pissing blood, she just pulled through. My collie type went to a good old mates, who was after a mooching partner. In her new home she had 1 on 1 attention and she eventually progressed as she learned to please her new owner. He is now very happy with her, but she still has plenty of weird quirks that he isnt too bothered about, plus he never lamps her.
  10. Ha ... homeward bound the morn Feck... anyone else away at work in the North East? Stuck for a venue now
  11. Cracking, I'll head down for a lamp the night then... any one else?
  12. Better than nowt mate, and like you say beats sitting in hands down! The rifle shot was probably Ian trying to pick yas off lol
  13. Thats a cracking bunch of pups. Just my type.
  14. A good nights fun, what have you got planned for the meat?
  15. Get mine off my vet. Sterile suture packs. Its easy to do, but takes a bit more skill than a stapler. I like them as you can carry them in a pocket and not even feel its there. Has saved a few of my dogs lives, and for that I feel they are worth having.
  16. Last thing to do is let him get away with it, You should seek out just the things that trigger his attention loss, and at first use a long check lead. Do your normal routine and when he decides to make a run for it, he wont get far, a quick yank on long lead should re-direct him away from the distraction, then blow the stop or recall straight away. Keep at it
  17. No mate, they usually work similar to the pointer, but a good deal steadier, and being much more inclined to work in close range of the handler, and if your not experienced in the beating line then this is what you want. It seems a shame to have to curb the natural tendancies of the HPRs by limiting their range so drastically, they like to work the wind as well as ground scent, and quarter wide. If rough shooting or grouse counting this is just the ticket. Horses for courses as they say.
  18. I dont doubt you have qulity stock, theres bound to be the odd nutter out there mad enough to put the time in to polish the giant turds up .... but out of the tons of labs Ive seen in the field, not many at all were dogs that would suit me. Seen loads that were cracking peg dogs, marking long retrieves, and steady during drives etc... but not all-rounders, its usually the hunting aspect that lets them down (for me), the way they work the land is not as good as a good spaniel or HPR. However the cross bred labs that Ive seen, GWP/lab as well as spaniel/lab have been all-out grafters. As a spe
  19. Dont let it bother you, get on with the application
  20. Good write up, cheers. And a nice pack of rough hounds there.
  21. I realise your one of the good'uns Donnie. Wont change my opinions of registering working terriers though, I dont see the point, plus I have bad feeling towards the KC that are fairly deep rooted. All the best with your dogs though.
