  1. Nice stuff there dee mac.!! Is there bull in there recent make -up?
  2. Dont know if the scents will help to get the earths used again, but when I make an artificial, I always put a dead cat in the end. Foxes love em for some reason, and they seem to get used much quicker. I have used a foxes coat soaked in a sealed bucket, with a wee vent in the top for snaring, and it certainly draws in any territorial foxes in the area. As far as fox scent sprays etc go ive only ever used them for training the dogs on, with hunting/tracking. Sorry if thats not much help, but its my pennorth worth.!! DnN
  3. I have 3 old english game hens (one wheaton, two black partridge). wanting £12 each. Or £30 for all 3. Hatched spring 07. One buff orpington hen, nice young bird, hatched 07. wanting £20 for her, she will make a good big broody hen. Aylesbury ducks, 10 weeks, £7 each. Embdon goslings £10 each. Ring 07717766542, for more info. Northumberland. Can deliver locally (Tynedale). Otherwise buyer collects. Cheers
  4. Havent done it since I was a student, but I did it regularly back then, as it meant you didnt have to drink as much to get pissed!! Worth doing though as it is going to a very good cause.
  5. I love my sport, and as a field sportsman, I like to give my quarry a good breeding season, free from disturbance so that I can take a manageable harvest through the season. But then I am also a proffesional pest controller, and often have to kil great numbers through their breeding season, usually though, this is when the population has become so great that crops or gardens are being decimated. Its one of those things, if I have to do it, then I do it. It is distastefull, but often very necessary.
  6. I have a clap trap, not the fenn one, but one with round arms. It was for birds of prey. Not sure about the fenn one though.
  7. Mine has good stamina, not quick enough to be a regular hare dog, and not agile enough for a rabbiting dog. He can hack a long slip and run, when fit, but i suppose not the same as a saluki type.
  8. My terrier had his foot badly mauled when he was once stuck in rocks. He suffered tendon damage and now often goes lame on the foot. So i suppose it depends on what damage has been done under the skin. Good luck with the lurcher DnN
  9. managed to sneak a peek underneath her this morning three have hatched but one was dead under the hay ... we've got one cream chick and one brown and ginger, and the dead one was black...? two eggs unhatched, are these unlikely to hatch now...? They would all hatch around the same time, so id say their fecked.
  10. I use lightforce striker million cp lamp, have done for six or seven years. The wiring and connections have f****d up so many times ive lost count! Im sure they make them like that so people keep re-ordering parts and new lamps off them! Mine has f****d up that many times now that I have totally cowboy'd it now and it no longer gives me jip! A few foxes etc.. owe their lives to their shoddy workmanship!
  11. I have a half cross. Got it to work with the terriers and also catch/kill quarry on its own. He has deffinatly exceeded my expectations! And as i am so pleased, i am going to do my best to keep this strain, as long as im working in this game. DnN
  12. Alright mate You sound keen at least, but if I was you, I would get a ferret! ............and a few purse nets. Im sure you could ask someone off here if you could go out with them to get a better idea of what goes on. The dog, could possibly be broken to the ferret and trained to chase any bolters, and mark occupied burrows. Rats or rabbit. Hope this helps
  13. Ive bought a fair bit of gear from them, mainly quad bike and shooting accesories. But my friends have been getting the waterproof cammoflage clothing for a while. Only thing to watch is that items comming into this country get collared by customs, who will tax you. However if the stuff is for.... say..... a present, and its gift wraped. It will be exempt from taxation......apparently
  14. It would be Prudhoe golf course mate. But the boar havent been seen around the area for a few years now.
  15. Hi lurchergrrl As most people hunt in diferent ways and require different attributes and skills from their hunting dogs, the choise of bushing dog should suit their needs. Yes, there will be good bushing/hunting dogs from many many differing breeds and crosses. But there are dogs that are made for the job. And for me, I wouldnt chance it on, say, a collie/terrier, when I could have a spaniel/terrier, bred from cracking parents. Spaniels are crackers for close range flushing, and are easily trained to hunt away within 40 yards of you, they wont miss much. Terriers are a bit headstrong,
  16. I would say the top left and bottom right(light blue) are araucana, top right(white) exchequer leghorn, Middle bottom light sussex. Cant be sure about the others, but would hazzard a guess at the bottom left egg being from a welsummer. No maran eggs there mate. Good luck with them.
  17. Theres loads of old artificials round my way, built a long time ago by hunt staff of years ago. Ive built three myself, one single entrance, and two doubles, funny thing is the single one holds all the time. Its long, and is placed at the top of a bank overlooking a stream in a wood. I was told this place would work, and work it bloody does! Get more foxes out of this than both my doubles put together. But i think its all about the siteing of the artificial, more than the layout of it, but then it may improve further by making it a double entry. The other two are on fell ground, and have had t
  18. Only seen one, I never got to see it work. was a foxhound/greyhound, the lad got rid of it after a short career, was just like a foxhound....only faster. He said, he should have known better. He hoped it would work more like a traditional lurcher, and also have better hunting ability. Well from what i gather its hunting ability was great, but the lad never saw much of it, as it was always miles away.
  19. Thats one to avoid then! Sounds crazy! cheers for letting us all know.....
  20. Bet your chuffed with that result, good stuff!
  21. Good one ally, its bloody anoying when it happens aswell! Doubt he will do it again!
