  1. What an absolutely cracking pic! Wish I had a camera that good!
  2. Sorry Ditch, cant say that I did, What does 'growing grass' sound like?
  3. Ive had plenty of bother trying to clean up odd single birds. Sometimes if I got one of the pair, and for some reason the other bird avoids capture for a while, they loose interest in the trap. I think as the pair bond is broken, they arnt so bothered about chasing off the call bird.
  4. Had a few further enquiries, but still nothing that stands out. I will keep searching
  5. No bother, free to good working homes! Like I said in the post, I think theres 10 to 12 kits there, im keeping 2 or 3, and have good homes ready for another 3. So thats 6 or 7 with homes so far. Looks like theres going to be some albino, some dark and some silvery... we'll have to wait and see.
  6. I use a .243 now, as it is dual purpose with it being a legal calibre for deer, also the bullets are relatively cheap. But if I was to get a rifle specifically for foxes I would have either a .222 or a .22-250. Both of these calibres wont let you down. YIS
  7. Well, just wtched those you tube clips, thats impresive police dog work! Good luck selling the dog, looks a cracker
  8. I am glad to say I havent lost a dog to a fox. But know of, and have heard of, quite a few terriers being lost to ground in persuit of the fox. And 1 or 2 actually being killed directly by the fox. Same with lurchers. Much more likely dying accidentally in persuit of the fox.
  9. Learn to squeek with your mouth and your hand! Works a treat when you master it. And as long as you have hands and lips, you have a fox call!! If you cant do it, or you want something in your mouth so you have your hands free, then get a widgeon whistle, and imitate a rabbit in distress with it. There is also a slightly larger one, made of brass, which will go round your neck, quite handy at times. Both of these are cheep, and will last years and years. I still prefer squeeking them in manually though.
  10. I was thinking the same thing. But its not the time of year for them here. Maybe a thorn of some sort.?
  11. Nice pic, I havent seen one of those for about three years now. Well done
  12. I would say red-leg, but it looks a bit big on the photo.??
  13. The males have longer tail streamers than the females
  14. Ive had a couple of freak eggs in the past. One of which would have sat on top of that fifty pence easy!
  15. Cheers FV. You gotta look on the bright side of things, at least I dont have to look for a new home for the crap one now! !
  16. It has been a bit of a mad year for me this year. Moving house and setting up camp further up the valley. With all of my dogs to think about and pups in the pipeline, my thoughts were on them and making sure that they had comfortable accomodation. I didnt think I would have had the chance to breed off one of the ferrets, as I didnt own a hob. We managed to get by through the season, with two jills. One, vastly better than the other, but identical in apearance. Anyway when I was finally settled in, I soon realised that my team of ferrets was in much need of replenishment. So, as I ha
  17. Tey are TRAPS! Hope that UNCONFUZLED you.....lol
  18. How much do you think it would cost to paint, say, 10 traps?
  19. Very easy to do, and works a treat! Edited to say, use the thick plyable wire for the tealers as modern high tensile stuff wont bend into position well, and is to floppy.
  20. Dont drink and shoot It wasnt 'dead eye dick' doing the drinking lol
  21. If they need controlling, they must be delt with. Any age.
  22. Cracking pic Jack. What a nice sky that evening!! Voted
  23. If you had allready caught a rabbit in the trap, how did the fox get in there aswell???? The door to the cage can push inwards.........but has two lugs on the bottom to stop it being pushed outwards......as is common with most rabbit cages of this type. Badgers are another frequent catch also. I see, cheers rolfe. The doors on my couple of traps open outwards. Looks quite handy getting two birds with one stone. Regards DNN
  24. In my experience it dosent help putting a dog with injuries with another, as, like you say the other dogs lick at the wound. This will keep it open and it wil take longer to heal.
