  1. Hi all, went to to try Loch Cluny out today, near Blairgowrie in Perthshire. Rumour has it of large Perch and Pike. I couldnt fine any features with any decent depth on the roadside banks. Three of us set up for the perch and never had a nibble. In fact i gave up after four hours. One of the guys i was with, normally fishes from a boat on the out side of the lillypads by the Church. Just wondered if anyone has sucess on the bank, where and how? Cheers Matt

  7. One thing you can try is by telling the Feo you have many areas of land you wish to shoot, and would like his advice on them for safety. I.E. if he thinks he will need to check lots of uncleared land, they may decide its less hastle and give you an open ticket. Worked with a mate of mine in CAMBS area. A DSC always helps with any calibre, not just centre fire. If you have a closed license, put as many rounds through your gun as you can, then you can prove competence in a shorter period, and it genuinely gives you more confidence. Matt
  8. I fish for skate out of Dunstaffnage with John Keggie of Oberon. Nearly allways fish very large mackeral flapper, or whole dogfish or alke. One thing is constant. SIZE. Also it is very important to hold still on the bottom, apparently they dont like a moving bait. We were using mega heavy leads in the fast tides of the Sound of Mull. Mega nylon traces are also the order of the day. Gets my memories going, must give John a ring....... Matt
  9. My love of ferrets started with my hatred of rabbits. you cant shoot the little feckers under ground. So i got my self a couple of Albino hobs and and now i have two more ladies (courtesy of Scothunter-right little sweeties). Fortunately my wife loves ferrets, so i had little problem convincing her to get a couple more. When the girls grow up they will also work, but they are what i class as "Working Pets". I.e when not working, spoilt!!! Matt
  10. Scothunter, Just in case you were missing them.... They're allready eating me out of house and home. Seem to be just fine. Thanks again Matt

    redundancy

Sue, As a minimum, i think that if it less than 100 people that are being made redundant, he should be given 1 months consultancy period. During this period people will be selected based on selection criteria. It may even be required to have employee representatives agree the selection criteria. These selection criteria must be shown to the employee and agreed, after which they will be scored by two independent scorers and the results disscussed with the individual. Then an "at risk of redundancy letter" is normally given to the member of staff. After which they can appeal their scoring e

    redundancy

Sue, pm me the details and i will check with my HR manager. Alot will depend on length of service, amount of people who are being made redundant etc. As i say let me know the details and i will have it checked. If you dont want to do that, Citizens Advice are pretty good at helping. Matt

  14. I was looking for a new compost bin recently and happened to find out that they can be got very cheap from the local council. This may not be news to some of you, but i was well chuffed, got a 300 litre pukka job, and kitchen waste caddy for less than tenner, and it came in two days. I found mine by doing a search on the councils website -Angus council, for compost. It came from down south though, so most probably other councils will do the same thing. Not often they give something back Matt
  15. Nice pictures there. Good lookiing ferts mate. Matt
  16. If you are eating fishery reared trout, then it is probably a muddy taste you are getting. This is as a result of the speed in which the trout is reared and the unatural diet it has eaten. The best way to mask the flavour is to smoke them. Either hot or cold. It makes them just about edible. This is my opinion anyway. You are right, it is a shame to waste them. Matt
  17. If your buying ready mix, it is sold in "cubes" or cubic meters. Just tell them the size and depth, and they'll sort it out for you. If they are any good. Haven't worked it out for you, but if its less than a load, you may have to pay for some of the empty space as well, so try to get them to deliver when they are delivering to someone else at the same time. No part load charge then..... Matt

  19. SS, Do you wear ear defenders when stalking? I find that with my mod, i dont need ear defenders, or are you currently not using a mod? I have electronics for clay shooting, but they are pretty bulky. Good performers though. I think thry are peltor brand. You cant wear a hat with them. Sunglasses are difficult as well.. Matt

  21. I also have a fear of Needles and Dentists. When young i used to get quite uptight, i even hit one dentist when i was 18, after to being taken to the dentist by a rugby coach (had several pints in me though) I hit him that hard, he hit his head on the coat hook on the back of the door. To his credit, he realised he had frightened me, took a different approach, finished the repair. "what an idiot i fealt". Didn't go for a couple years, then got an abcess.I had to go, my girlfriend at the time, just booked me in to a woman dentist, I was fine for a coule of years then. Fear came back a fter i ch
