  1. Hav you considered a PES stainless? Good performer, over barrell, so the weight is further back. No rust either. Matt

  3. Not sure about the civil/criminal aspect of the story, but it came from a reliable, mature source. Matt
  4. I used to enjoy the Rowing, especially when Pincent and Redgrave put their oar in the water. Great representatives for their sport. I also used to enjoy the field sports, I always used watch the olympics, but work detracts from that now.
  5. All, you may be aware of this, we are the only country that has the technology to be able to pinpoint a motorist who has no car tax, no mot or no insurance. For this heanous crime, which could have resulted from an administritive error, you will be put through the court system and suitably punished, with up to 5 years in Jail, i'm told. However, we do not have the technology to monitor the influx of immigrants, the whereabouts of offenders on the run from low security jails, or the rights to know where child sex offenders live. The police are set targets for crime reduction (allegedl
  6. I regret not keeping the boxes for all my toys, which are now worth a chuffin fortune. I regret not keeping all utillity bills for the last ten years, as i'm sure, even given a 300% pay rise in that time, i'm still worse off and cant work out why? I wish i had kept my first guns, especially my B/A .410, as my kids would love it now. I wish i had kept first Landrover, as currently it would be free to tax, mines due this month and the scammers rekon they want £400. I wish i had kept my first house, as it only cost me £40,000, i'm paying £12000 a year in mortgage now. I 'v
  7. Heres my say on the immigrant issue and other related topics. Until recently i had upwards of 70 working for me, we had restructuring of our customer base for various different reasons, but thats for another post entitled "I hate supermarkets". When the time came to pay off the foreign workers, it had to rate as one of the saddist days of my working life. All, but none them, understood the situation, and because of our honesty with them all, they ended up bringing gifts in to the office to thank us for their time working for us. I ended up in tears in the back of the office, having lost some
  8. Hi Sounder, What age did you start him shooting? He's not far off my boys' age i'd guess (2x 8.5) and they are as keen as muster. To be honest i'm stalling as i have very little patience. They shoot air rifle, but it is still a big step up. Best of luck to him, enjoy!!! Matt
  9. Hi, This is the translation IC=improved cylynder about 1/4 choke IM= improved modified about 3/4 choke M=modified about 1/2 choke SK= skeet= virtually no choke F=full Choke choices will vary with user, in my o/u beretta i use 1/4 and 1/2 for virtually all game shooting. 1/4 and skeet for most clay shooting. Just watch you dont use too tight a chocke with some of the wildfolwing rounds when shooting non-lead shot. If using lead shot at long range, then tighten your choke. Matt
  10. Jarvey, It is an accurate round, with a reasonalbly flat trajectory, when compaired to a rim fire. It will also kill rabbits, at range, with out any problem. It will also gut, skin and cook em for you!! There is also the noise aspect to consider. If you are shooting rabbits at 80yds with a .22lr, sub sonic ammo and a moderator, second, third and fourth shot opportunities are common place. These wont come along so often with a moderated .223 at the same range. Also, look at the ammo prices and some of the quantities of ammo, people who have .22lr feel confident to shoot in an outing. In ano
  11. I'm in the two rifle camp as well. Depending on range i would reccomend .22lr and .243 for larger species. If range is a consideration, consider the .17HMR. Cost is also a matter to consider. .22LR is just about the cheapest round on the planet. So if range is not a consideration .22lr all the way. Matt
  12. I am out Shooting with a guy this week who has .303 for deer on his ticket, i am not sure how he gets on, I will chat with him and get back to you. I know it's an Iron sight, Lee enfield, normally used for target work. But he definatley stalks with it. You may have to wait a while, unless anyone else comes up with the goods... Matt I asked him for his opinion, but although he has deer on his ticket, he has never shot one with his .303. Sorry for the lack of info. Matt

  14. Here is someone elses view on the subject http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-130746.html On another discussion forum, there are concerns shown about barrel life on the .260 rem. If you are target shooting, would .223 or .308 not fit the bill. The choice of ammo and guns would be broader? .308 is a good stalking round and can now be used for Fox Thanks for that SS, missed that issue. What made you attracted to the .260 in the first instance? Matt
  15. One thing I would say on that is, the licensing depts have just been adivsed by the Home Office and ACPO to allow fox on the larger calibre Deer rifles as standard if asked for. This is good news for anyone who is applying for a Deer rifle as they can now almost certainly get fox along with it. However, the Deer rifles cannot be held purely for Fox. Regards SS SS Have they stipulated any advised maximum calibre, or it is left to the feo. Matt
  16. Hi YOUNG1982 not sure whether you would be blessed with a large choice of ammo. Also choice of guns would be pretty limited, for example if you look on guntrader .co.uk there are only 4 for sale, verses 300 in .243. There are however 36 in 6.5x55. I have however no doubt that this calibre or 6.5x55 are excellent in performance. You may however struggle to get Fox with either calibre. That would depend on your FEO. What would your intended use be? Matt
  17. Now that sounds like a plan. Will try that tonight. They are very good close brothers, so it could just work. Thanks again to all the sugestions Matt

  20. Aye, i live in the middle of a wood, in the middle of farm land. I have got rabbit holes with in 30 yrds of the ferret pen, but they always come back to call, even when down a hole. Plus, not a lot of activity with the holes at present, shot most of them. No young at present, plus it was daytime, and we dont see many rabbits in the daytime? No Rats and no ones got chickens close either. Matt
  21. Hi all, advice please? I put my ferrets (two sandy Hobs) in to their 'Play Pen' as usual today. they normally spend 3-4 hours a day just playing with their tube and upturned litter tray. Why , i dont know, but after a year of contented play, they managed in the space of 20 mins to dig out and i have not seen them since. They are very content, well handled and the best natured ferrets i have ever had. i have looked for them for the last 9 hours, but can't find them. They normally come to call. I have left live traps baited with food and water, left their cage open with a ramp and will ke
  22. Hi, been really busy at work at present, but here's my collection now i've had time to photograph excluding shotgun. Here is my CZ .22 Style with Nikko 3-9 X40 and SAK mod shown with Landrover 'Porn shot' This is my Sauer 202 .243 with 4-12 x 56 30mm tube Nikko sterling Diamond scope and PES stainless mod introduced by Bubble and Squeak having some male bonding time And my cheeky little AirArms s400 with 3-9x40 and AA MOD my personal favourite for garden defence Matt
  23. Wood on a shotgun-seems more traditional. Synthetic on a Rifle, for all the reasons mentioned above Matt
  24. John, my own preferrence is for AN ex army SAS windproof smock. It's got lot of pockets, no insulation, its silent and most importantly CHEAP. Have had one now for 20 years. I just wear it over a T shirt when conditions allow. Matt
