I am a big fan of fishing mostly deep sea all around shetland, also enjoy most forms of hunting: lamping , ferreting and the occasional shooting of rabbits and greylags
  1. You mention here you pushed the round out with a rod. Surely the fact that you had to remove a full round by the use of a rod would mean a second round would never chamber anyway while the first was in the breech, So do you mean you knocked the bullet head out the barrel or did some catastrophic thing happen to the whole brass case that the rim collapsed and disappeared into the barrel, surely not? If not when you ejected the case you would of seen a split neck anyway and not when you knocked it out with a rod. Anyways i have never had any problem with the Hornady stuff ,but previou
  2. Hi mate, did you ever get this sorted. Its maybe been mentioned but cant you put a .410 on your section one firearms this way you can have multiple shots a minimum barrel length of 12inches and over all is 24inches, as far as the firearms act states There was a guy up here in the Shetland isles , who was struggling too keep his .410 pistol the only way they allowed him too keep was too not shoot it but this is only because he wanted keep it as he said it was a peice of family history. obviously this couldnt be done with a new gun but it may be something too look at. Liam
  3. Hi above item must be in good condtion. may consider other ring makes but must be of high quality Cheers Liam
  4. Thank charlie , il have a look then give them a ring tommorow. Do you have any idea wether that was put up recently or is it been on awhile.
  5. i already have a few Sako rifles so i beleive i would be happy with the trg. i dont want too go down the custom route as its looking costly. If anyone does hear of one for sale, then let me know by PM.
  6. Thanks for the help lads. Probably end up going with the nightforce got someone going to the states so they can hopefully pick up what i want.
  7. I live up in the Shetland Islands, so i have to buy something and just be done with it. I think i was going to get one from america and hope i dont get screwed with the import duty. Does anyone know where the best place to buy for them sending as a gift etc.
  8. I cant make up my mind but im more tempted by Nightforces hi speed turrets which have 20moa correction per full turn but the Vortex looks like a solid looking scope. I was going to see if i could pick one up in the States. But i am struggling to find anyone that will post to the UK.
  9. Im been quite tempted by the former of two makes. Initially ive always wanted a Nightforce, but then i saw these on the market and i have heard good things about there product and there aftersales service also. Has anyone dealt with any of the Vortex Products? Cheers
  10. Ive already been reloading for 2 years, and i can see a massive change in price off factory round to my reloads and also accuracy is 10x better than factory. I only work with Lee presses at the moment i just thought i may buy some better quality stuff at some point but until it fails il just stick with it. I think what makes midway so expensive is that what ever you buy is coming from the states in the first place. They dont keep a warehouse full of products in the UK. I only noticed this when i went to go track the order then parcel force had nothing on there system purely beacuse the it
  11. Up until now i have just been buying my powders bullets primers etc from up in Shetland, but im looking to upgrade some of my Presses etc. I did recently buy some stuff from MidwayUK but thought it was fairly expensive. So what is in everyones eyes the best cheapest place to go for all your reloading needs? Cheers Liam
  12. If your concerned about really flat trajectory get a .22-250 same size of bullet as the .223 but with more speed im running about 3850fps with a 50gr v-max and can reload a 20 rounds for £7. The swift as mentioned is quite uncommon and brass is hard too come by also far more powder is burned so you'll get less life from your barrel.
  13. I had one conviction on my record , which ended up bein admonished in court but it still shows up on your record. I applied for my licence not long after this and had no problems. But living in a small community meant the police man here knew me well and he understood what the conviction was all about. So it wasnt a problem.
  14. Thanks for that , il give them a call tommorow. Cheers
  15. i did look on there web page but it seems to be the sauer rifles they deal with didnt say much about savage.
