Matt putting a variation for 308 use 243 but the land states i need 308 this is at lockaber but shoot lake monteith nottingham england and northants 308 is as good a calibre as any. Ammunition is widely available from virtually every shop, normally with choice of bullet weight and type. If you go to any of the other calibres, then you will be either ordering you own ammo from your current RFD, or you may be luck enough to have a big enough gun shop. I don t have such luxuary here.     I have always just written them a letter, either for SGC or FAC and it has always been ok. Simple handwritten letter. Name, address, cert number have purchased , borrowed, etc shot gun serial number XXXXXX single barrel 12g baikal from rfd number, address on date xx/xx/08 or license holder name, address cert number on date signed XXXXX Then send to. FAO firearms administration team at your constabulary that deals with it. Thats all you need. Matt

    Thanks Martin. And to complete the answer to you question. You have to prove you need one. Not like an SGC, where they have to prove youre unsuitable. An exceptable use would be Vermin control, or Deer stalking. You also have to have suitable land to carry out that that task. Or if it deer stalking, have booked stalking prior to you application. The security is stronger, you have to have two suitable references and a written permission from the landowner.. Matt

    No. is does not put them on one ticket. it is basically a money saving offer, because they only visit once. You also have to do both at the same time. so if you allready have an SGC, you will not be able to get coterminius FAC, unless it is up for renewal soon. I think it costs £60 instead of £50 each. Thats my understanding. I have both, non coterminius. May be someone with one could confirm. Matt

When you say all rounder, whats the biggest and smallest quarry you are looking to hunt?     I agree, its wrong to get any animal without researching its care and upkeep. I would like to make 2 suggestions. Firstly, most of us on this forum are passionate about giving our animals the best possible care. So we should encourage others to share our passion positively. This mean measured responses to questions from inexperienced keepers or newbies. We all reach breaking point with some of the muppets, but i think we have the measure of most of the posts and posters.... Secondly, speak to the mods about a pinned section entitled, what i should know before getting a ferret, or similar??

    True, the only reason i have gone this route, is i have one centre fire with several uses. I want to shoot several weights of ammo, without the usual hassle. 100gn for deer/fox,£1.40 a pop on federal premiums, or light ammo on privi or homeloads for range/paper punching £0.40/0.50 a shot The right way for me is to get the new Swarovski calibrateable scope. But the wife needs a new hoover and hair curlers, so will just have to wait a bit LOL Matt

    thanks everyone for your reply's ..i took the scopes back to the shop in rugby and he said there was nothing wrong with the scopes even tho i'v had to rezero them twice in 3 days ...he said it was because the gun barrell was cold that i had to shoot some bulletts into the ground first then the gun would be alright i this right or me being new to gun shooting or is he trying to make a fkin mug out of me..then he said that the mod was too long then the bullets might be catching the mod inside....its a 1.7 anchutz mod was made by local gun smith It is possible that a zero will change with a

    I would also think it its the crack or thump hitting the target. Mine CZ with sak mod on Winnie subs is silent, until it hits it's target. Lead on skull is quite a reasuuring sound, means humane kill.... Matt
