    You will have no problem getting a .243 for fox and Deer. I have .243, and only shoot Roe and Fox. Especially if you have deer on your ticket now, and it is an open one. Just put in a variation, i doubt they will even visit you. Dont forget to add a Mod when you put your variation in. 243 pretty noisy without IMHO. Matt

    I tend to use the back of my hand or a WAM. WAM can be a bit quiet when the wind is up and your trying for a 300 yrd call. Matt

    I fox with a .243, moderated of course, very civilised, no excesive noise. I also use the same rifle to shoot roe. Never considered the alternatives, because, as yet, i have not come accross a situation that i am not happy with. I only use one bullet type for all, 100 grain soft point, because i also shoot in England. But In my area, ammo is the same price for all bullet weights. If you only intend to shoot in Scotland, i would drop bullet weight a little, slightly flatter shooting etc. But caution on bullet type selection, horses for courses etc.. Matt

    The big question is, are you hitting them with your eye closed? If you are, then dont change anything. IMO I used to shoot with left eye open, now sometimes i do, sometimes i dont. But making changes to muscle memory is a long time process. It takes 20-30 hours of repetitivness to consign something to your subconcious memory, ie doing it without thinking. So expect hard work if you want to change what comes naturally to you.. Some of the best shots i know, shoot left eye open. for the very reason you identify, good range judging. Best of luck Matt

    Apparently i have to abide by the RED NECK etiquette now. Just in case you pass too, here it is folks PERSONAL HYGIENE Unlike clothes and shoes, a toothbrush should never be a hand-me-down item. While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private using one's OWN truck keys. Proper use of toiletries can forestall bathing for several days.     They have their place, and thats on the day when they're meant to be used. At least you can prepare for them then. My dogs hate them too, i can here them in Dundee going off all the time , and thats 3 miles away. They are beutiful though, when they have the big organised displays you can sit in my garden which is on a hill and watch them. Matt
