  1. I was really on edge about getting my terriers chipped, but I got introduced to a proper country vet who appreciates a working terrier and their uses and I've got to admit it's one of the best things I've done. My dogs are all above board and if they ever go missing or (god forbid) get stolen there's always the chance I'll get them back via their chip. Fatman I'm like you. I'd say about 5 people see my dogs on a regular basis and I don't attend shows very often so who would know if they were docked ,chipped etc etc. But a little piece of mind does help.
  2. Smart dogs. The black one is in great shape.
  3. Yeah I agree. I've a mate who's a Para based at Colchester and hes not a full shilling. God help them lol.
  4. Rock dogs might have their uses and get some sport but Ive seen piss poor earth dogs be great in rocks and also the same cannon fodder were brave as they come in bales and drains. Drains, bales and rocks are unnatural for the game and so the dogs feel braver. Get them under the sod and you'll see how brave they are.
  5. Where do you get the good stuff from?
  6. I bought the Meindl Glockners last Summer and can't fault them so far. I've previously had the Le Chameaus, Altbergs and Lowas and rate these above all 3. Although the HanWags look a nice boot also. What you need to watch out for is the cushion type stuff used between the boot and the sole as once it begins to perish they are difficult to have the boot re-soled. The Glockners were the only boot I found without it.
  7. I thought shows were a bit of fun and a get together and the showing of the dogs was just part of the fun? When people take the hump over which dog won etc etc I find it very sad and not what WORKING dog shows are about.
  8. I remember reading in one of Harcombe's books that he thinks a Winter litter could be better than a Summer litter due to the weather being cooler meaning less chance of infection and less parasites etc. so in turn less chance of harm to the mother and pups. Would anyone agree with that?
  9. Meindl all the way. If youre walking get the Dovres, if youre digging get the Glockners.
  10. Name and shame the c*nt so he can't do it to anyone else. Bad craic when lads can't be trusted with dogs.
  11. Shit that mate. I've experienced the same thing with a mate and it's unbelievable how quick the time passes.
  12. The black and tan one catches the eye.
  13. The dog isn't pulling overly hard it's the fact the collar is choking him mixed with the warm weather. I've had a terrier with the same problem before and a harness solved the problem. But all the others in between and the others I have now are fine. Thanks for the input but it's not needed. Back to the original question, does anyone know where I can get a decent harness?
  14. Does anyone know where I can get a good terrier size harness? I've a dog here and, in the winter it's no problem but, during the warmer months he's pulling on the lead that much he's almost choking himself out. I was hoping to get one from Strongstuff but he doesn't do them so any help on alternative options would be appreciated. Cheers.
  15. Fair play. The one I seen was great around a hole and even went to ground on numerous occasions. Also had a great temperament around terriers. But he just couldn't kill a critter though he would try his best.
