  1. If you dont mind me asking how much did the camera cost Fieldsporthunter? Ive always fancied doing a bit of photography but theres that many cameras to pick from I dont know where to start! Great pics aswell...☺
  2. From what Ive read he was up his arse in the early years and then fell out with the man and slates his terriers quite a lot in the later books. A Parks bred dog was the sire of what Harcombe called 'The Great Stan'.
  3. Also a chapter in Broadhurst's first book and Plummers Fell Terrier book about the man.
  4. I totally admire Leicester and Ranieri for what they've done this season. But IMO it's a total freak and wont happen again for a long while. Look at the players theyve got Huth, Simpson, Albrighton etc theyve failed at other clubs theyve been at in the Premier League but theyve excelled this season. I think its still the hangover of Ferguson leaving Man Utd and the League not settling down that has given us such a strange season. When Ferguson retired I think that was Wengers chance to dominate the league and he's failed terribly. Next season reckon Klopp at Liverpool and Pochetino at Spurs wi
  5. I also thought there was a lot more cubs around this year Neil. Maybe something to do with having such a mild winter?
  6. If you read I said 'however', meaning they were bad attributes. With a heavier dog the job would have been done easier and quicker.
  7. The gamest lurcher I've seen was a first cross Bullx Whippet. However he lacked pace if it was a long slip and although he would roll about with a fox forever he didn't seem to have the weight behind him to totally see off the game. Edited to add he was also the best terriermans lurcher I've seen for marking holes etc.
  8. Got mine done. Was worried the police/dog wardens would be waiting on every corner to check dogs etc but it seems to have passed over with nobody taking notice. Ah well. At least if they do go missing theres a chance they'll be returned.
  9. It has been very cold here also. Was -2 at work the other day. Unbelievably cold for this time of year.
  10. I bet he felt like strangling the b*****d thing! They cause an awful lot of damage to livestock and the poor fox gets the blame unless the culprit is still at the scene of the crime.
  11. I've always liked the coat and thick skin that Border Terriers have, just a shame the show brigade got hold of them and ruined the job.
  12. My young prospect. Late to start but finally found his feet towards the end of the season.
  13. She looks well. I've always fancied having a slat mill for the terriers but decided against it in case it makes me lazier lol
  14. Yes thats the way I seen it. Obviously it's different with gun dogs but like you say with terriers it's a wasted space. The pointer looks in good condition mate.
  15. That is a cracking set up HPR. I have a similar set up with the kennels except I made cupboards on the top of the dogs kennels to keep the terrierboxes in etc.
  16. I agree with Bryan and Neil. Having a bit of weight on is as good as a good jacket.
  17. Fully agree with that Dilly. A few trips to ground doesn't half strip the fur off.
  18. I prefer a hard, rough jacket on a dog. They're a ballache to shave over the summer but that aside they're ideal for a working dog IMO. Also they hide any working marks a lot better than a smooth.
  19. Good post mate. Sounds like some decent land you've got.
  20. Like has been said met some of the best people through terriers but also some of the worst. Same as anything in life I suppose. Be honest and trustworthy and the decent lads will act the same back to you. The shitbags come and go.
  21. Surely the Patterdales we know of today were developed and created by Breay and Buck and then the likes of Brightmore, Nuttall, Gould, Stacey, Roberts etc took them to the next level and so on and so on. I'm an obsessive reader in anything to do with terriers and the first blacks that appear consistently are with the men mentioned. In the good terriers I've seen if you trace the pedigrees back far enough it's all black/choc Patterdales til the early 70's and then its goes back to Lakelands owned by a few men that are in Plummers Fell Terrier book. Neil I think Buck died 1996 not 80's.
  22. Ive always fed them on the night. I know what youre saying HPR and in regards to beating and gun dogs i'd agree. But for digging dogs I wouldnt feed them before, as i'd imagine theyd feel bloated and uncomfortable. Same as ourselves, trying to do any type of manual work such as digging after eating is a killer so i'd say the dogs would feel the same. Thats only my take on it mind.
  23. Lovely looking bed area for them Lee. But over time and with wet and muddy paws etc I can see it getting wrecked.
