  1. I'm sure 2 and 3 are still available on his site?
  2. Are there many air holes for the terriers in them boxes? Difficult to tell by them pics but I think they need plenty of fresh air if they're going to be in them most of the day.
  3. Ive dug to 2 Borders. One was a dog and the other a bitch. The dog was from a pet home and was a decent enough fox dog, the bitch had numerous seasons and countless digs. I bumped into an old boy who lives near me the other night and he has always kept blacks. He said he now keeps Borders. Said theyre every bit as good as the black dogs hes had and that they have such a bad name because 99% of them go to pet homes and are never tried, so people assume theyre shite. And I suppose he's right in a way.
  4. I was going to say it looks like a smashed pallet. My mate has a bitch that has had the same done. Too hard on a fox unfortunately.
  5. Perfect boxes them 5 feet down. Whats the lad called that makes them?
  6. Nice to dust the cobwebs off. Still some time before we'll be doing any terrier work up here. Very warm still. Mid 20s and blaring sun today.
  7. Lol. Sorry I just seen this. No I dont fancy one at the minute George, unless HPR buys me one! ;-)
  8. I never mentioned Eyeball. You were talking about Nigger? Black Jack was by Nigger yes. But which Nigger is the question is it not?
  9. Ive seen two pics of Gould dogs called Nigger and they look like different dogs.
  10. They are different Niggers I think.
  11. On the flip side there are plenty of proper digging men who gift pups to trusted friends and give them true pedigrees as they are trusted and there's nothing to hide. As soon as moneys involved then not far behind are dishonesty and lies.
  12. couldnt agree more...I reckon the book is wrong lot of miss prints & name mix ups but then again book could be right. I just want to confirm truth! The misprints are probably nothing to do with the men interviewed but because of a certain author. Mis-spelling and putting sentences together so they make no sense are prominent in most of a certain authors books.
  13. I wouldn't totally trust what the men say in books. They usually tell the odd fib to put the rosette hunters off track in regards to breeding.
  14. I've not heard of that lad for a while now Well I haven't spoken to him for over 4 years again so the cycle must be due to come around again...
  15. Yes the sand is horrible stuff. Lovely to dig in but that's it! Smothers a lot of dogs and does untold damage to their eyes.
  16. Come to think of it we had a deep dig a few years ago to a dog of mine on a fox. It was 16 foot in soft sand and as we broke through behind the dog half the dig collapsed in on us and blocked the dogs air supply off, so we continually used the bar to probe through to the dog to give him some air while we dug and when we did eventually get to him a couple of hours later he was alive (although cold and shivering with shock) and the fox was dead. I reckon that bit of extra air we had been able to give him using the bar probably saved the dogs life.
  17. Puts some terriers to shame marking like that! He looks keen.
  18. I always take a t-bar, usually for tying the dogs to. But i have used it on occasion when near break through but struggling to find the tube for whatever reason.
  19. I'm talking lads that do it on every dig.
  20. Do you mean sink a bar hole to break through to a tube Neil? I think thats a stupid idea also. It fires the game up and gives the dog unnecessary greif whilst youre digging IMO.
  21. Yeah I remember them pics Spindolero.
  22. Sorry that pic is in one of Darcy's little books and the pic of him holding the dog is in Broadhurst's book.
  23. That pic is in Broadhursts first book I think. Also there's a pic of JP holding Mick in Plummers Fell Terrier.
