  1. Out of interest how much per net mate? And what are they made from?
  2. Ive always used single peggers and the catch ratio has always been good enough but Ive got mates that say you miss nothing with double peggers so I'm going to try them in the future and see how they go.
  3. Nothing is 100% with terriers, its all about the trust you have for your dog and knowing the dog and how it works, acts around earths etc etc. Neil youve been at it a lot longer than me and what youre saying does make sense. But thats just the way Ive seen it done and the way I like to do it. When on big old places with plenty of holes I 'll leave the dog off and let them do theyre own thing but the majority of average earths I'll see if the dog marks on the lead etc. first.
  4. You could spend longer than that for a dog to be checking empty earths I think. Everyone has their own ways I think and there's no rights or wrongs aslong as your getting results. Everyone up around where I live has the same method of keeping the dogs on leads, like I say because its a time saver more than anything else. Obviously you'll get the times where the dog gives a slight mark (fresh scent etc) and let the dog run through to make sure but not on every earth. Ive no idea why some dogs mess around or 'ghost' in earths like you say. Is it because theyve been encouraged to enter by an
  5. I disagree with that Neil. I've had and seen other dogs that can tell you whether theres one at home or not. It's about watching you're dogs attitude change and what their different mark is. Some whine, some pull soil back, some just freeze on the lead and cant be pulled away etc. It depends how you raise your pup I suppose. Some let theirs run empty earths and run loose with the locator collar on etc. I like to be strict with mine and when out hunting keep them on the lead etc. Theres not as much game up around me and if you let them run empty earths youd be wasting a lot of time. A marking
  6. I'm not the person to be asking mate, I dont have a clue lol. But the pics Dillydog showed me they look like Wolves!
  7. The Coyotes look like serious things to be messing with.
  8. Wooden handles on anything are a no no if you're doing any amount of digging. F*ck sometimes even metal ones aren't enough!lol
  9. Carters do a smaller headed one Lee. Theyre still classed as a shovel. I think size 2 is the one you want. Google it.
  10. Thats not true Dilly. You earn your digging retirement and become the 'foreman' on a dig rather than the digger.lol. Like you say it's too addictive for some people and no other hobby gives you the same satisfaction. Plenty of years left in you mate.
  11. Theyre smart looking dogs Shane. Is their much bull blood in them?
  12. I've had 2 terriers that would be classed as the runts of their litter and both turned into good dogs. As long as there's no deformities and the pup is fed good grub I dont think it makes a difference.
  13. Do they have any maintenance needs or components that might wear with use or will they last a lifetime?
  14. Looks like a good few days was had! Lovely countryside and plenty of digging to be had around that way.
  15. Is she starting to fill out now? Look a nice size there.
  16. I was always of the assumption that black x black and tan or black x blue produced the weak choc colour. I wasnt aware that generations of blacks could all of a sudden produce a choc. You live and learn I suppose.
  17. Well I thought black was the dominant gene. And when black is involved only black surfaces? I know of 2 litters when first the dog was black and bitch was choc and it produced 7 black pups. Second time the dog was choc and the bitch was black and 5 black pups were the result. But I suppose honesty is what matters the most regardless of colour.
  18. Chocolate cant be produced from 2 blacks. I was there 7/8 years ago. All black. And lee are you on about the lad in France? Why has he gone off here?
  19. Is there such thing as full Nuttall? Hes always had blacks so where does the choc colour come from?
  20. I seen 2 first cross GWP x lurchers from the same litter and I wouldnt rate the cross. They were both dog fighters, highly strung f*ckers. Lacked the pace for most daytime stuff also.
