To be fair, there's plenty of shithouses in the game, who bring lurchers and hunting into disrepute......BUT there's also loads of top people who will help out in any way they can, and just go about their business without needing any limelight or thanks ! Ive argued and fell out with people in the past, but I've grown up, and have made friends and been out with people who I once argued with and found them to be great company ! Its a strange old game ! This Singapore group takeover of Newcastle is descending into a farce. They claim to have offered Shearer the managers job, but he says he hasn't heard from them and to come back when they've actually bought the club. And the latest nonsense is they claim to have been in "direct contact" with Ronaldo about signing him !!! I know Chopra is a pal of Shearer, and seems to be involved, but it looks like someone is putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5 ! Cheers.

The problem with buying a mid table, third tier team is how do you attract the top players ? You may get mercenaries in the twilight of their careers, who demand top wages, but you won't get the top players who want to play against the best in the Premier or Europe. Any player going to a third tier club knows it will be at least two or three seasons, if they are lucky, before they are back in the Premier. And even if they go down the mercenary route, looking for a quick escape to the second tier, how will they pay them, with the wage cap coming in ? Top players are far more

My missus has just told me about this, so I've had a look. Looks like they've offered £270 million, and only £250,000 deposit. Ashley has dismissed that out of hand. Doesnt look good .to me if they couldn't match the other bid of £300 million. Don't get me wrong, I love a conspiracy theory ! I don't believe Dr. David Kelly topped himself. I don't believe Saddam had weapons of mass destruction that could hit us in 45 minutes. I don't believe there was a lone gunman on the fifth floor. But for anyone to say Covid is a con makes me doubt what little faith I have in human nature ! Cheers.

There's people who don't believe the Americans landed on the moon. It's been estimated 400,000 people were involved in the project. Just giving a dispassionate view, and come to the conclusion snooker would be worse off without him, to me, at least. I met Bristow many times, and he was much like O'Sullivan; the sports best player and biggest attraction, but held in low regard by many of his contemporaries, Phil Taylor was in the same vein, and I guess there are similar people in other sports. It would take some extraordinary human being to be so good and so feted by the fans to remain humble and approachable. To paraphrase Rag & Boneman ; "wer're only human after all" ! Cheers.

The thing is, Ronnie IS snooker at the moment and has been for years ! Hes the sports "cash cow", "golden goose", he puts bums on seats. Imagine how boring it would be without both his skill and contentious views. I probably wouldn't be watching this final if it was Selby v Wilson, and I'd guess quite a few others wouldn't ! And the sports bosses know this ! There seems to be a "it won't happen to me" attitude amongst a lot of people, mainly, but not confined, to the young ! Anyone who thinks this virus doesn't exist, or isn't killing thousands of people, are deluded ! I personally know people who were otherwise fairly fit, die from it or have been extremely sick. If you doubt it, talk to medical professionals who are at the sharp end ! Would any government wreck their countries economy on purpose by lying about a deadly pandemic ? Cheers.

I think it's a lot to do with the Ranking System. Ronnie doesn't "do Barnsley " , as he said, meaning he won't tramp around the country trying to amass ranking points, whereas players outside the top 64 have to . The ranking system isn't perfect, how was Wilson ranked number 3 in the World Championships that includes players like O'Sullivan, Higgins, Selby, Trump, Robertson, Williams, etc ? O'Sullivan complained last year that the World Championship should only include the top 32, not the top 128 ! A bit harsh I think, but it would take some massive upsets for a player outside t

Don't forget, this is the bloke who just walked out in the middle of a match. He refused a 147 break because the prize money for it was "only " £5,000 ! He gets away with it because they know he is far and away the top draw, people watch snooker because of him, in his words "he puts bums on seats ! Hes the only character in the game. Did you hear his reasoning for smashing the balls out of a snooker ? He reckons giving away a few points by doing that is better than giving away 30-40 points trying to get out of a snooker that he thinks he can't do. Sounds a bit implausable to me, when he later got out of snookers that looked above world class, but who knows with O'Sulivan ? I still think he was messing with Selby's head ! Point is, I wouldn't rearrange my schedule to watch Selby, but I would for O'Sullivan. Cheers.

Anyone who says snooker is boring is probably right, if you're not into the technicalities of it, but there's nothing boring about O'Sullivan, wether he's playing or being interviewed ! He messed with Selby's head and wrecked him ! Selby sounded like a spoilt kid when he was interviewed, saying O'Sullivan was " disrespectful ". I know you can't compare snooker to boxing, but it looked awfully like "dope on the rope" tactics to me ! LOL ! I could be classed as a fatalist, "what will be, will be," but I don't believe your future is planned. You make decisions, they pan out or they don't. If they don't, re-assess and try a different route. Looking back, I would have loved to have been an academic, but my social background precluded that. I allways had a mechanical aptitude, even as a child with my Meccano set ! LOL ! I was lucky that my first boss when I was an apprentice must have seen something in me, and insisted I did both mechanical and electrical , and two day realise and two night school. I try not to look back through rose tinted glasses, and yes the 60's were great and I was at the right age to enjoy every moment of them, but I've seen life , in general, improve greatly since the 50's I'm pretty stoical and frugal, but happy, I have friends and family who work all hours, won't start a family because they both have to work, but both have new leased cars every three years, live in four bedroom houses thought there's just the two of them, go on exotic holidays, eat in fancy restaurants, but are up to their eyes in debt and are terrified of losing their j
