  1. What's that got to do with trying to make a bob or two ? ? ! Cheers.
  2. It's like when I was flogging a few leads, collars, couplings and things at EDRD show years back......I was sending my missus to see what old Glynn, Strong Stuff and others were charging so I could undercut them ! ? ! Cheers.
  3. Forget percentages, it's a Saluki/grey with a bit of wheaten ? Cheers.
  4. Imitation Damascus....... Cheers.
  5. Saw an Afghan x Greyhound in Appleby years ago, nicest looking dog I've seen, but the owner assured me it couldn't catch a rabbit in a 'phone box !!! The show stuff should never be compared to the working stuff in Central Asia. Cheers.
  6. HJKC .........makes me immediately think "Exchange & Mart" ! Good old days when dogs, ferrets, pigeons could be sent to you by rail in the guards van ! Cheers.
  7. If I wanted one of these pups, I'd pay £500 in a heartbeat ! But it's come to something that we now think £500 is a decent price for a lurcher pup.......I suppose it is when compared to the £1,000's people are paying for crossbreed potlickers like cockerpoos and such. These coursing dogs have allways sold at a premium, way above "normal" lurcher prices, and lads have been willing to pay. I don't begrudge what anyone gets for pups, it seems to be a sellers market, but I'm glad there's still people in our game breeding for the sport, not the money. Cheers.
  8. I thought you were going to say "Duelling Banjoes".......... ? ? Cheers.
  9. I'm assuming that's samphire in the pic. We don't have it around here, but I've heard it goes great with grilled fish. Cheers.
  10. Bon appetite ! ? ! Cheers.
  11. I had one of those Subaru's, and a Saluki, many years ago...... Great times ! Cheers.
  12. "Horses for courses"; or "hounds for grounds". Just have an open mind and don't be breed blind ! ? ! Cheers.
  13. Useless fact, Plummers books were at one time the most stolen books from libraries. Cheers.
  14. Labour six month ago; " Dominic Cummings is an outrageous liar, can't believe a word he says". Labour now; " Dominic Cummings is an honest, courageous man, telling the truth". Yeah............ Cheers.
  15. Why try to re-invent the wheel ? If someone wants a dog that's bigger than a whippet, smaller than a greyhound, has insane speed and would be fine for a couple of runs on hares , get a non-ped ! Theyve been bred best to best, whippet/greyhounds, for 60 years or more. Cheers.
  16. "Schadenfreude" springs to mind ! ? ! Cheers.
  17. I was gifted a Teckel bred from top class imported stock a while ago, and I've just been gifted a deer/grey pup from stock I admire. They will both be worked, and enjoyed ! Its all about the breeders and the prospective owners......are they in it for the money or the game ???? I know where I am. Cheers.
  18. Should this breeding program not be considered a "type", rather than a "line" ? Cheers.
  19. I'd say that just about every single person that had knocked on a door and asked for permission has received the same response at least once ! Rabbits , deer, foxes have become anthropomorphised by books, films and tv in many people's minds and are seen as cuddly little characters, not pests. Hunting with dogs IS seeen as barbaric these days by many who's only knowledge of the countryside is a walk in the local park ! Be happy that you have some permission, and can take a few rabbits off the other place without too much hasle ? Cheers.
  20. Strange that the police didn't run away during the miners strike, or the Hunting Act demonstrations. They didn't mind going in mob handed with batons, or mounted charges back then....... Cheers.
  21. But an extremely brave buffoon ? Cheers.
  22. Replace "radio" with "iPad", "Stout" with "sloe gin", " A warm, imitation log fire", And you've got it exactly right ! ? ! Cheers.
  23. I remember the "Warrener" controversy vaguely. Didnt someone gift or sell a dog to someone on the understanding they got it back if it didn't work out, but the dog was then passed on or "loaned" to someone else and eventually ended up with Warrener ? I know a lot of accusations were thrown about and Warrener got the police involved and some people advocated boycotting Warrener and his products. It seemed to die down as quickly as it flared up. Dont know the outcome, but remember thinking it was the dog I felt sorry for....... Cheers.
