  1. thanks for your comments everyone. didn't know if I should have posted it, just wanted to get it off my chest I think. as the wife said it doesn't seem real but sadly it is.
  2. Cheers, she wants to move on but had 2 police interviews and they want to interview her again next week so it just brings it all back.
  3. things getting back to normal now. the wife dropped me off at work Thurs morning parked at home then went to the shop cum Post office a short walk away to buy milk, about 6-10 am. just her in shop elderly owner was on his way to the counter when two masked men burst in, one with a gun other carrying a axe. they grabbed her and put the gun to her head and said open the fxxking safe or she gets a bullet. he couldn't open it as it's on a timer. they then roughed the owner up and took cigarettes and emptied the till. wife seems to be coping well considering. living in a village I never thought it
  4. looks like a cracking day out. got give it to the Dutch you can smoke what you want but you can't have a lurcher ?
  5. has anyone had to run and climb hedges, fences at speed with these things?
  6. these new fangled things will never take off?
  7. what you using quick sets for tomo hedgerows?
  8. that sounds well dodgy sid. two dead dogs and a heart attack they need to get to bottom of it. it's bad enough with a open shaft you know the danger, but much worse in this case when you can't see it.
  9. it wasn't a bell pit. I ended ringing coal authority as no one seemed bothered about it. chap came out and confirmed its a deep coal shaft.they fenced it off and are now deciding whether to fill the shaft or dig the mound out and cap it.
  10. Cheers. its mostly railway embankments, paddocks, hedgerows where I am. I have a half cross and she is a good solid marker and finder. she will catch on decent runs but it's a lot to ask of one dog to get in cover shift its rabbit and then get back out and catch it.
  11. what they like in thick cover bobza? what I mean is will they enter brambles and nettles, work through hedgerows? it's a genuine question as I have only had outcross whippets. always fancied a pure.
  12. fxxck me katch when I first read it I thought it said that's why you have gone back to Halifax, I thought that's a bit drastic
  13. well I started with nothing and I still have most of it left.
  14. update, a mate says it's a bell pit and this is a local map.
  15. I must add its a coal mining area with mining dating back centuries. history says there was bell pits in the area but I am sure bell pits were not brick lined.
  16. see your back in Mansfield tomo

    The Election

I have been a Labour voter all my life and live in a staunch Labour constituency, same MP for 49 years. corbyn as prime minister is simply a frightening thought. Labour have done everything to avoid brexit, this area voted 70% leave but we have been ignored and they think we will vote Labour anyway. not this time, I will be voting Conservative for the first time ever. Father would turn in his grave but needs must.
  22. it's mainly hedge crawling for me as well. used Russell's in the past make great little markers. rabbit numbers are very low around me. I only ferret where the dog marks nothing above 8 holes, I am very much a smash and grab ferreter being a uninvited guest it keeps me on my toes.
  23. nice pics, bit different here pissing down all day. do you not use a dog for ferreting Arry?
  24. I am glad I have no friends so miss out on Facebook and social media
