  1. you been watching too much home and away ?
  2. your a lucky man absolutely stunning country. I don't think there is anything finer than watching dogs hunting up, finding there game and catching it?
  3. only rabbit I saw all morning ended up in this old dump. all rough going around here and never any numbers. Still enjoying myself, when little dog catches or we ferret one or two it makes it worthwhile. majority of the time little dog is still in the brambles or hedgerows when rabbit breaks cover, but when she catches they are hard fought for ?
  4. long gone are the days when a mongrel was near worthless and kc was king.
  5. I use a first cross beddywhippet for mooching and everything else really. I am biased towards Bedlington blood as I have had quite a few. always fancied a pure whippet one day. Next one will be a three quarter cross.
  6. the one I had before this one couldn't stand water. she was a hard little bitch would stand any weather but wouldn't have water. yet this one will drop into a stream, brook etc to get underneath brambles and other cover. I suppose they are all different.
  7. I like traditional tomo. it doesn't take long to get a net down. ?
  8. thanks for the info. looks like there is a lot of variation in the different setups. by the way who's bill?
  9. I saw these nets at the midland 2 years ago. what struck me was the length of the pegs and the bulkiness of them. having only ever used traditional nets with pegs around 25 inches they look cumbersome. have you used them at night tomo?
  10. one thing I can guarantee you young man............. it never fxxxcking leaves you!!
  11. or a smooth coated beddywhippet. according to some they don't exist.
  12. making good ferret food. feeding them regularly now?
  13. lol. yes had a squirrel Thursday and one today both treed by the dog and shot with catty, like to call it teamwork.
  14. the way I see it a rabbit is a rabbit no matter where it lives you still have to catch it. around me numbers have been bad for years. (tomo knows the area). years ago I had bigger dogs and travelled a lot, still didn't get record numbers but did OK. now its single ferret in jacket, 6 nets and little dog. 2 rabbits is good days mooching, a drop with longnet and 9 or 10 is a bonanza. must be a age thing but I am enjoying it more than ever. Good luck to the lads doing the numbers ?
  15. not necessarily my friend...... have you ever thought you have small radiators?
  16. no good with links. type in ferreting with the a team on the North Yorkshire moors. you tube.
  17. I saw that video mate real eye opener the numbers. some stupid comments made after it though, think it was jealousy ?

    Long nets

Nelson is the best. only place I know where you can still buy good traditional nets for old farts like me.
  19. impressive ?. just what I am looking for in the near future.
  20. Good shooting sir ?. just lately squirrels haven't been stopping long enough to offer a shot. yesterday little dog trees one and he sat offering a clean shot....... and fxxxcking knobhead here missed. on a lighter note, when travelling north I have often seen a couple of kites just outside Leeds area, often wondered if they were resident birds.
  21. both books are hard to find. last time I looked was 1 on amazon £70
  22. I have had a few tickets in my time Mr Wilkes, but trespassing in pursuit of teddy is really pushing it. pups coming on nicely ?
  23. it depends on what sort of ground you will be working. do you require the dog to work thick cover, nettles, brambles etc? will it be working open ground where it can get a good run? size will play a big part. lurcher is a very loose description of many things, ?
