  1. good advice Mr Wilkes ?. today dog marked a tree, she then marked another one 10 yards away. couldn't see anything, I thought make your fxxxcking mind up, is it in this one or that one. took your advice and the dog was right on both. there was one in each tree?. we got em.
  2. only pulling your leg young man ?. it's many years since I have seen numbers local, mid 80s. a good friend of mine once had 63 off one drop longnetting in Derbyshire.
  3. behave yourself, they will be taking you away next ?
  4. many men have claimed to have seen a rabbit in Derbyshire, they usually end up in a asylum (the men not the rabbit)
  5. did you use the dog in Scotland tomo?
  6. it's no surprise with beddy blood. nose, marking, working cover comes naturally ?
  7. never without it mate. always chance of squirrel or pigeon ?. chap with stables fxxked me off last year. I was that busy watching dog work hedgerows I didn't see him coming, he was on foot. I have to be extra vigilant now??
  8. it's a case of putting the miles in then. by foot and by motor. I went for a mooch at 7-30,today got back around 12-30.saw 3 rabbits and marked a nice little 2 holer.dog only got a run at 1 which ran into some stables and I had to leave sharpish.
  9. what did you plan to hunt when you bought the dog?
  10. exactly mate? a few times she has put a rabbit out of cover, after catching it or losing it she has gone back to the same cover, me thinking it's old scent from the one before, but there as been another rabbit in there. I should not have doubted her she is 4 in May and has never false marked anything.
  11. last couple of weeks little dog has marked a few trees and for the life of me couldn't see anything. even told the dog to stop fxxxcking about and thought she was false marking. this week a few times I have seen squirrel run up a tree and dog has marked it, even though I know it's up there had to walk away spent ages looking but couldn't see it so no shot. as one old chap told me always trust your dog
  12. just a question for you trev. do your ferrets work consistently through the season?. have you ever had a ferret jack through seeing that much work, rabbits etc?
  13. Nice one ?. I think that old whippet has lost it's edge ??
  14. are they still racing at shirebrook?
  15. I think you are about right. I don't require anything bigger than that really. twenty would be my maximum twentys plenty.
  16. my type of dog ?. looks like some patt blood in there. how big is he?
  17. I would say my little bitch averages probably 1 in 4. but daytime bushing, mooching with a single dog is hard on bad ground. but still enjoying it ?
  18. I know what you mean about thin on the ground. but what ever the numbers, if you can average 50% to 75% on your runs I would be well happy with your dog.
  19. Nice one ?. 2 from 4 is a good return, nice bitch?
  20. you are right there tomo?. but when it comes to dogs if I find what I want I think about money later?
  21. given me food for thought. ? I always planned on putting my f1 beddywhippet bitch back to whippet. I want a bit more speed to work with her when bushing ferreting etc. half the time she's still in cover when rabbit is out and away. would I be as well buying in a whippet? rather than the trouble of breeding as I only want a pup for myself?
  22. what she like around cover mate? brambles, nettles etc. always fancied a straight whippet one day, but have wondered if they will work cover as well as a beddywhippet.
  23. I used to call them old man's dogs, as that's all the old boys kept around me years ago. (I knew everything in my late teens). now it's all I keep, seems the old ones knew a thing a two about rabbiting, general mooching. it only took nearly 40 years for the penny to drop! no flies on me?
  24. my type of dog. can see them making cracking little dogs.
