  1. nice shooting ?. Good to see you keeping ferrets again. I only shoot 9.5mm steel and sumekie.65. looking at some precise.75. do you think it will be overkill with this ammo
  2. I only use hegarty pouches now if I can?
  3. nice one ?. looks like precise.65 with hegarty pouch band?
  4. for me myxi is still the biggest killer of rabbits. seen places never return from it. lads on here such as trev tomo, WHWT, etc producing good numbers ferreting season after season on a lot of same land.
  5. Yes that's true, but there is a lot of people up there every season. ferreting is not effective everywhere. some places they don't bolt well and can be to deep to dig. it's no coincidence that lack of numbers and night vision has come at the same time.
  6. if ferreting was wiping land out, how do you explain the Yorkshire dales year after year producing good numbers?
  7. Good shooting sir ?. can't seem to get near them at moment, plenty about but they are not hanging around. little dog put four rabbits out of the brambles and gorse...... around here that's plague proportion.
  8. Yes mate. I am no expert but I think its a this years young one. someone might be able to tell us?
  9. came across this little chap today while mooching with little dog. he looked a bit weather beaten from last nights storm but a rest I think he will be OK.
  10. it makes me long for the days of long ago. it's certainly not changed for the better mate.
  11. gave that up long ago mate. any sign of a weapon and do gooders have got the police helicopter and SWAT unit out in no time. now its catty in coat, handline in the summer for a few trout. if things get too hot they can be thrown and replaced ?
  12. sadly its become a traditional pastime that's quickly dying out?........... the pub.
  13. watch yourself trev, way things are going at Dover some cxnt will kill you for them bananas.
  14. Well it's better to be out on a bad wind than not be out at all.
  15. Nice one you pair. 4 rabbits is well worth being out with a net?. walking back to the gateway wouldn't the wind be behind you? or have I read it wrong.
  16. this chap sounds like Hitler with his superior race?
  17. Yes mate first cross. Bedlington sire to non ped whippet bitch. she's all coat. like a little whippet when wet through.
  18. I can only think its the availability. I would think a Patterdale x whippet etc would do the job fine. a very good friend of mine who has had beddywhippets years once had a bullxwhippet. not the pit. It was a old type of Stafford Cross whippet. said it was one the best dogs he ever had just as good as his beddywhippets.
  19. I have had beddywhippets with good coats, and some as nothernlite says with poor coats, too fine. all have had a great nose. I think beddy nose takes some beating. they can be stubborn but early work pays with the discipline. one thing I have never been able to do is call them off when in pursuit.
  20. Yes mate. what I meant was I have no interest in dogs that are doing lure coursing and winning rosettes, I want a stud dog that's a good rabbit dog.
  21. I have been undecided on that tomo. some say kc have a better nose and stamina. others say non ped. all I want is a good working dog that's catching rabbits. I have no interest in lure coursing or rosettes.
  22. looked at a few and had some good advice from a member on here. had dogs 35 years but never bred a litter. so it will all be new to me.
  23. seen one on eBay with 8 foot collar. £127 and still bidding. mine must be 25 years old but can't remember how much it was. anybody know how much they were new?
  24. putting her to a good Whippet, to get a three quarter pup for myself.
  25. those poor dogs! it's a joke what some people think
