  1. I think too many over the years (myself included) have been too obsessed with type names etc. Old lads years ago only required the dog to do its job, weren't fussed on breeding and just put a good dog to a good dog.
  2. can't really argue about what's been said about beddywhippets. I have had quite a few and genuine half cross, wether it be first cross or line bred have all lacked gears. it wouldn't be your choice for lamping. I only ferret and mooch, and they suit me fine. the biggest plus I have always found is a great nose this they have in abundance.
  3. there is a litter of three quarter bred ones in Durham at £500.they look the part. I like the look of the bitch looks a good strong whippet.
  4. a chap on ebay, I have all my bands from him, always top quality. I looked online and it says there has been a colour change.
  5. why do manufacturers change band colour? been using sumekie. . 65 it's a grey colour, had a lot of success with it. now they have changed it to orange, just bought some not tried it yet.
  6. too true. for us it was a steady progression from bird nesting to catapults, (gadders we call them), to gatt guns on to air rifles. then a mix of folding four tens and. .22 rifles. happy days.
  7. I can say with all honesty, none of mine have ever looked like mixing it with Charlie.
  8. hope he is on the mend. had a couple of traditional nets off him always a pleasure to deal with.
  9. as you know I am a dyed in the wool beddywhippet man. I like them. I would also give other terrier crosses a go, lakeland, Russell etc. but it is always stated on these threads a straight whippet will do it all better. I will have one some day and see if its true.
  10. why bother, what do they do what a good working whippet can't do better?. that's how these threads always seem to end up.
  11. don't know what's going on with Nelson. his net loft closed in April with immediate effect. opening early may...... its still closed.
  12. only a f1 beddywhippet mate, but I don't class that as runner.
  13. saw some pup's advertised last week. f1 beddy /greyhound to a whippet /greyhound. looked nice mutts. if I was a younger chappy, and lamping, and other bits and bobs, it's way I would go.
  14. why do you have to add something else? some go f1 to f1 call them second generation. I have had beddywhippets bred this way, you get a lot more variation ?
  15. been looking myself mate. looks like hard work finding a good one.
  16. will it be a whippet when you get a new mutt?
  17. when someone disagrees with tomo, they sit down and talk about it..... then decide tomo was right?
  18. many years ago (I sound like uncle Albert) about 82ish I went out with a chap had 2 first cross saluki / greyhound. he coursed in the day and lamped at night. they were both very good. did some good numbers.
  19. hope your not going to start threatening people and posting dodgy pictures of yourself.
  20. I would have one of them bobcocks, rabbits they were catching would suit me fine.
  21. it's a refreshing boost to this thread sir.
  22. I don't know if there is a midland this year mate.
  23. that's the CLA game fair. the midland game fair is always at weston Park.
