  1. I just like to say a massive thank you to FH, he very kindly said he would come with me for a bit of buck stalking, so we arrange to meet and have an evening at the sheep farm on arrival the weather wasn’t good, windy and cool, but we pressed on, a steady walk around the field and ending up at a spot where I’d seen them in the past, as the rain started it was looking like an early bath when he glassed the doe in the corn with a buck in tow, moving into position the buck heading towards cover, as it stopped I got to take the shot, after retrieving the beast he took the time to show me the
  2. A bit of quiet time can only be a good thing and if you get to shoot a few pigeons, even better ?
  3. Nice ? good going that, something for the belly and a ginger, a cracking evening out ?
  4. Love seeing a hedgehog about, I’ve seen more this year than I have in a long time
  5. The sky was lovely as it came over the north York moors but it was a sign we were about to get wet
  6. Someone I know rang me last night saying he had cut some small paddocks and there was rabbits all over, now with a bit of scepticism ( if he’s seen 1 he’s seen a 100) I said I’d come up, so off I went with Hugo’s dad, needless to say seen 3 and shot 2 of them, another case of the farmers millions, we were not far from helicopter mans house so we went there, a lot more to be seen here, we gave it half an hour and shot 11 only picking up 4 and leaving the rest as my mate owns the fields around the house and they have just sprayed the oilseed rape off so a bit of pre baiting for when the combin
  7. Fair enough, I try and keep out the way of nutters now, my FAC means far more to me than putting some crank in their place, when I was younger and out running dogs I’d think nothing of rolling around in a field with some idiot, but I’m getting a bit old for that now, I find now that if you know your land and rights then it’s best to be polite and explain to them that they are the uneducated idiot, they really don’t like being talked down to in a calm and quiet manner ?
  8. Cracking write up si, a good mixed bag even without a ginger f*ck the loons, I can justify what I do and I’m on the right side of the law, also if I feel I have to defend myself with reasonable force, I don’t mind slapping someone’s nose out the back of there head all in the name of self defence, of course ?
  9. That cleaner is rubbish, if it won’t regen on a good run then the chances are it’s a faulty sensor, they all have to give an expected reading to the ecu, if it doesn’t see what it needs to it will not regen, it wants to go on a diagnostic, after it’s been repaired it will need a forced regen, sometimes the soot mass is to much to allow a regen and the dpf will need to be cleaned out, there’s companies that do this properly now and when they have done it it’s like new, they are very expensive to replace and a lot like the cats the aftermarket ones can more trouble than they are worth
  10. Nice work, hopefully there’s a few more kicking around for you to have a go at ?
  11. The French were the first manufacturers to do away with temperature gauges and they are the worst offenders for boiling up, by the time the light came on it was to late, rovers K series engine was another one that was absolute rubbish, I lost count of how many head gaskets I did on them, they were known as the rover kettle series because of how many boiled up
  12. It may not be the dpf that’s making the fan run on, my s3 does it and that like a cool down cycle the dpf, if working correctly should do its regeneration once the soot mass reaches a certain level, it will normally do this when you are on a good run and the car is at running temperature, it does this by over fuelling and raising the dpf temperature above 600 degrees and burning the crap out of it, if there’s a fault with it the dpf light will come on ( normally a faulty sensor ) and after repair will need a forced regeneration, the fans do sometimes run on after a regen but there’s othe
  13. What do you want to know, I’m a truck mechanic but all the new stuff has dpf and ad-blue That’s EGR, DPF is diesel particulate filter in the exhaust, you can’t blank them off but some of the early ones can be removed and programmed out ?
  14. Bit of urban foxing in my younger days ?
  15. Very true, I’ve got an ICOtec gc500 at the minute and it’s worked well but they say the sound quality is far better on this one and what I get for the other will pay for half this one
  16. I’ve had a go with the old one and I was very impressed with it, they don’t have range finder or record sound but I don’t want to hear it die and if I can see it I can hit it, I’ve ordered this as well, not sure if it will bring me any more gingers but it looks posh
  17. Sad times Bernard, I hope it works out for you, this chinky virus has messed up a lot of lives
  18. I’ve just ordered the new one, they said it should be in stock by the end of the month, there’s a waiting list for one
  19. Cracking job, he’s a good looking fella, a job well done getting him early before he makes the most of the poult buffet ?
  20. In all seriousness, see if you can find some old buckets that fit and turn a few into hat feeders, put a few about with a bit of wheat in and see if you can draw a few birds in
  21. Stick a bucket over the top and guard them stand guard with your shotgun ?
  22. Just to chuck another one in and tell me to bugger off and keep my nose out if you want, but have a look at the sightmark wraith, I had a play with one last week and as a colour day and a nv scope for 600 quid I don’t think you can get better, optics warehouse have said they are expecting the new 2020 model at the end of the month, I’ve put my name down for one
  23. Nice work, good to get out on the cut fields ?
